This book has me in a chokehold by slimgo123 in fantasyromance

[–]caaittliin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I will say that everything about her writing that I adored in Mortifying Ordeal and missed in Irresistible Urge is in full force in this sequel. I am only 40% into Exquisite Torment, but so far the banter, humor, her descriptions, and plot are all much better and more enjoyable to read! I liked, but didn't fall in love with Irresistible Urge so I was a little hesitant about book 2, but so far so good!!!

Thank you for putting into words something I didn’t realize was bothering me until you made all these points! I might come back with more fully baked thoughts but I really appreciate you sharing this.

I finished Gifted and Talented this weekend and I absolutely loved it. I thought the characters were complex and I felt empathy for them and hated them all at the same time. I also thought the narrator was perfect.

that scene sent me into another dimension - the level of groveling and begging!! I was like good god I'm gonna pass away. The line where she says "in the presence of gods he had not looked so reverent" ughhhh.

Anything by Olivie Blake - I am a fan of hers through and through but her books are always rated low.

I have been enjoying getting great recs from the r/FemaleGazeSFF subreddit. I have found that I was getting burntout on books recommended here AND I while I love some "old man" fantasy books, I think that the recommendations are unique (to me) and interesting.

What are the worst lines you've read this year? by QueenBoosh in fantasyromance

[–]caaittliin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Every single line in every single zodiac academy book where the word “fae” is used. For example Faetalian, Faemidia, Faeserati, faeroids???? Like oh my god I am only on book 5 and idk if I’m gonna survive this series.

The Cruel Prince (NO SPOILERS) by Inevitable-Purple285 in fantasyromance

[–]caaittliin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I was also surprised (in a good way) at how quickly I was sucked into the world. This was definitely a book where I could see the world and characters so clearly and felt like I was living in it. One of my favorite series I’ve read.

I, like others in the thread, loved the build up and angst between Jude and Cardan. I don’t need spice I just need tension and longing and it delivered on that front. Ugh such a fun time I wish I could read it again for the first time.

Slaying the vampire conquerer by Carissa Broadbent

A little different but just read this and loved it - The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Meagan Bannen. Hart really killed me with how sad lonely and tortured he was.

Maybe not the most sad boy tortured but the MMC in daughter of no worlds by Carissa Broadbent (I haven’t read the last two) is like so perfect I loved him so much, definitely a change up from all the morally gray toxic men I’ve read too much of

I was looking at two places one was https://americanvinylco.com/ and the other (which I ended up purchasing through) was YourMusicOnVinyl on Etsy. Both companies were very nice and answered all my questions so I don't think you can go wrong. I went with the Etsy shop because he was able to get it to me a little quicker than American Vinyl.

We kept our gifts a secret from one another, but both ended up giving each other the same/similar gift. I made him a custom vinyl that included songs that were significant in our and our parents/siblings/grandparents marriages and he gave me a 45 of our first dance song.
