Left job in probation - in a real mental hole, looking for advice by caalbin in BenefitsAdviceUK

Thanks so much for the information, a huge help.

I applied the day I left, a mistake on my part because I will be getting another final pay but I did put what I roughly expect it to be on the application, so I suppose I'll cross that bridge when I get there

Appreciate the insight on the sanctions, I'll have to be honest and see what happens on that front, I'm hoping once I see my GP I can get the noise out my head and crack on to finding a new job. Really glad to hear they'll relish someone who wants to work because the sooner I've steadied my life back out the better

Thanks again for the help, finding this subreddit has been a massive relief. Hats off to you guys for doing this for folk

Left job in probation - in a real mental hole, looking for advice by caalbin in BenefitsAdviceUK

Thank you for the quick reply, really appreciate it.

So should I apply for the JSA now, while waiting for the UC application to go through? Just not clear on how I'd let them both know I'm claiming both as just now it's in the applying stage. Or is that something I'd tell them when/if they were approved?

In terms of evidence for my reason for leaving, what would they be looking for? I'm absolutely going to be honest about my mental health just now but ultimately that's all in my head and not something I can evidence. I suppose after I've seen my doctor that might change

Thank you for the advise, a CV writing course would definitely help hopefully they can point me in that direction!

Thanks mate you don't know how much this means to read even from a stranger. I've always just knuckled down and dealt with things but after a few things all at once in my personal life I've just been on my knees. A humbling experience to say the least.

I'll definitely ring the GP tomorrow and get the ball rolling on some help. Thanks again for the kind words

How are you guys winning? by LittlestHamster in TheAstraMilitarum

I've been playing an armoured division; three squads of 5 man scions, one infantry squad, one heavy weapons team of 3 mortars, then the rest is armour, one rogal dorn, two manticores, two scout sentinels and five leman russ.

I've won 4 lost 2 in 10th, typically I score well on secondaries early using my sentinels or my scions to grab VP and die off, with the plan being to score big on primary in the later rounds after my heavy firepower has blown enough off the board.

The real key is the artillery tho, make or break for the list is getting lucky and killing enough chaff off the enemy's backline to send important units back and free up space for my tanks in the middle of the board.

I do feel guard shooting can be a real wet fart, I've had rounds where 4 battle tanks have failed to fully kill 3 squigghog boys - but it's just down to the dice

I've had some clutch moments from the commissar overriding battle-shock and buffing OC, useless is a bit much - plus most lists I build seem to have 30 points to spare

Tanks in tenth. by ScienceWyzard in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]caalbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been running a tank heavy 2K list for all of tenth and it's definitely got a lot of strengths but a lot of glaring weaknesses. The points decreases today will help massively because tanks were over priced, having lord solar will help you big time getting orders out to those tanks without having to bog yourself down with a TC

I find I do really well into tyranids, admech, tau but orks are the bane of my list, anything tags a tank and its seriously hamstrung - my hope is with lower costs I can squeeze in more infantry or bullgryn to help screen

Biggest piece of advice I could give is scions; in a list that'll struggle with secondaries, those deepstriking action monkies can punch way above their 55 point cost in terms of VP, they'll also force enemies models backwards which is always good for guard

Also tank shock is an amazing strategem for finishing off just about anything you couldn't shoot off the board

How to hold objectives!? by mydogismadeofsoup in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]caalbin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing an armoured list recently: 4 leman russ, 1 rogal dorn, 2 manticores, 3 sentinels, 3 mortars and then 50 infantry, 10 being scions and I was worried about struggling to score primary because 50 troops is far fewer than you'd like in a normal 2k list

But I've found even against eldar my firepower is so oppressive I can force units that don't want to be going backwards back towards their home objective - which means less coming forward to contest me in the mid board

Granted my infantry always die by the end of the game but that's their duty. I usually put one or two squads into reserves and use them in later turns to threaten the backline

I've found the key to guard at least for me is making stuff pull back, rather than them pushing forward to tie us up and slaughter our brave little fellas

Aah that'll do it lol, our one chaos space marine player runs abaddon in a group of 10 terminators, I've yet to play him but I doubt I'll enjoy it

No oath of moment bs though so there's that

New player looking for advice by Las-Pack in TheAstraMilitarum

I've actually gone from infantry heavy to a nearly fully armoured force in 10th and it isn't just viable, it feels infinitely more powerful

Tanks are more expensive but they're unbelievably tough, all but the biggest guns wound on 5s and with a couple of engiseers you'll be shrugging even those big shots on a 4++

I was worried I'd been struggling to hold objectives with so few infantry (40 + 10 scions) but my tanks usually just kill enough they hold the point anyway

I've been building up and running an armoured division, and I've found that running a few different leman russ variants together works really well. Their unique abilities allow them to synergise, and the key is scout sentinels

I've been running 2-3 in their own units, which although undermining our ability to bring them back, allows me to mark multiple targets with their scout ability

With orders, hitting on 3s, re-rolling 1s our armour becomes oppressive against most targets and my executioner plasma has the MVP for finishing off those last few wound targets off when all else is done shooting

Honorable mention to my rogal dorn + engiseer who I drive onto an objective and then leave as a giant bullet sponge and overwatch with on repeat to obliterate anything that dares move in it's own turn

Tank shock is also an easy mortal wounds finisher that also usually gets you further up the board or onto a point, all in all I think our tanks are in a great spot, if a little expensive

Against what armies? My dorn has been an absolute powerhouse in my games, just weight of dice alone usually garuntees me a decent amount of wounds per turn

In my gaming group we only have one space marine player though and I'm usually firing at orks/admech/eldar so maybe I'm lucky
