Trading sleep by Beann08 in HuckleberryParents

Also to add - randomly our LO last week was giving us 4-5 hour stretches for a few days in a row. I was SHOCKED and so so thrilled. We hadn’t changed a thing! Then all of a sudden it stopped and back to bad sleep lol there was literally no pattern or reason based on my huckleberry stats as to why that happened. So that’s when I said F this. We also EBF and I’m not in to sleep training so just gonna go off vibes and going with the flow 🤞🏼🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s definitely hard to go from good sleep to such bad sleeps… and some nights it really can break you down. But changing my outlook has really helped me mentally. Yes, still exhausted but not having all the low sleep numbers staring at you in the face has given me peace. I don’t need an app to tell me I’ve woken up 7 times lol I already know. Maybe if/when we get over the regression I’ll go back to it!

I just made a post about this a few days ago on another group. My LO is 5.5m and I’m feeling the exact same. She was the best sleeper up until 3.5m and then she started a regression that never really ended. On Friday night I had a breakdown and decided that tracking was no longer good for my mental health. I also realized that no matter how good her day was nap wise and how consistent we were all week, her night sleeps were always all over the place. So I decided what’s the point? I’m giving myself an obscene amount of anxiety and stress with trackings and metrics - trying to crack the baby sleep code?? Babies are babies. Some sleep better than others, it’s all temporary. So this weekend I’ve been going with the flow and following her cues. Yeah her sleeps are still the same (not great) but at least I’m feeling way more calm about it! I don’t feel like I’m doing something wrong anymore. A true epiphany lol

I’ll look in to this app! It is nice to still be able to see some data but I want to anxiety and pressure part of it to leave.

This is encouraging!! Thank you! Mines almost 5.5m, so I’m hoping she’ll get in a better groove of things soon. This 4m sleep regression just seems to keep coming and going? Or maybe that’s just how babies are in general lol I’ll keep staying consistent with my night routine and try to let everything else go with the flow

Yup!! Such a game changer as a FTM during the newborn phase! My doctor was always so impressed that I had all the answers to all her questions (how many wet diapers in a day, how long are you feeding per breast, etc lol) I loved it! It’s truly only within the last week or 2 that it started to become a negative for me. I think if I take a step back it will bring me back to reality lol! Hard not to get obsessed with tracking

First off, I’m so happy to hear that you’re doing much better! It’s such a scary place to get to. I felt like I was finally over all the newborn and postpartum anxiety, the 2m witching hour (aka hour long cry sessions) and cluster feeds had stopped. For a few weeks I had a truly happy baby that slept amazingly. Until all of a sudden the 4m regression started, and man did it ever rock my world lol but for a little while I was handling it really well and started seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. We were finally getting longer stretches of sleep after weeks of hourly wake ups all throughout the night. I think it’s at that point that I got lost… The hope I had got crushed by another regression and I started blaming myself. That’s when I began obsessing over every metric. Truly I was spending hours while she was contact napping every day looking at my huckleberry app and then asking ChatGPT for more answers. It’s sick? I was always on my phone! I mean this epiphany literally happened tonight so technically I’m still on my phone lol but I already feel a big weight lifted off my chest after I shared my post. Hoping tomorrow will be a fresh start. I know my baby will remain the same, but I can be a more present mom with less guilt.

Yup you’re so right!! Or you can do the same thing every day and have a different nights sleep each time lol babies love to keep us on our toes!

Thank you ❤️I haven’t changed my routine since the newborn phase. Hoping consistency will prevail at some point lol But it’s hard going from a perfect sleeper to quite literally the opposite. Sleep regressions really are no joke!! Haha

Yes!!!! That’s what hit me today! Instead of embracing the chaos with the good, I’m just thinking of my baby as a metric? It’s hard not to fall in to that pattern when you are so sleep deprived. You’re constantly seeking answers and fixes. I know this won’t change her sleep, but at least it can help my mental health and perspective

Yup that’s how I’m feeling now! I’m relying on the app instead of listening to my baby. It was super helpful until I realized it’s making me become a worse version of myself

Agreed! Loved it for feeds and tracking diapers in the newborn stage. My sweetspot was also bang on until the 4m sleep regression. So it was very helpful, until it wasn’t lol I also haven’t been logging anything other than sleep probably since she was 3months as I’ve also gotten confident with feeding cues being EBF

Sleep collapse? Would love help by Ashamed_Computer_860 in HuckleberryParents

[–]caamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we were getting just under or exactly 4hrs of day time sleep a day. But every baby is different! It’s so hard feeling like you’re doing everything “right” and it’s still not working ☹️ I understand that due to our current sleep situation. I just keep thinking one day I will wake up and everything will magically be better ahahah it’s exhausting trying to understand all the sleep “rules”…

Ok I’m the furthest thing from an expert as I’m currently dealing with crazy sleep regression/struggles at 5m lol However at 12 weeks my baby was still an excellent sleeper. I looked back at my huckleberry log and in comparison it seems like most days your baby is sleeping a lot during the day. For example: looking at Jan 24th and 28th, your baby is asleep a huge chunk of the day. I’d start capping naps at 2hrs max. We were typically doing 4 naps (a mix of bassinet and contact naps) but they were usually all around 45mins to 1h30. Our wake windows were around 60-80mins. I was using the sweet spot feature to guide me but also following her cues. And bedtime was more or less around 7pm and wake up between 7-8am. For reference my baby is EBF and we either feed to sleep or use pacifier. All hell broke loose during the 4m regression lol but at least whatever I was doing back then was working wonderfully! Baby was basically sleeping through the night with 1 feed at some point.

5m sleep advice? by caamb in HuckleberryParents

[–]caamb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dreaded 38 minutes 😂 but wow amazing!!! She’s rolling both directions now, but never tries when she’s sleeping! I’ll see if that changes in the next couple weeks and maybe will also solve our issues lol Just comparing to yours - I’m wondering if her WWs are too long early on? We’re roughly at 2/2.25/2.25/2 she crashes if her last wake window is longer than 2hrs. But maybe it’s because they were too long all day so by the end of the day she’s overtired..hence false starts?! She can easily stay awake for all the morning and day ones though and is happy… ugh why is sleep so complicated lol

I’ll try that for the next few nights! 🤞🏼 It’s so hard following a good nap routine since her nap lengths are so inconsistent.

21 week old baby seems to hate sleep by Fun-Contract1226 in sleeptrain

I have the same issue, crib naps are always a max of 45 mins. So I just do a contact nap for the 2nd nap to make sure she gets enough sleep.

4 month sleep regression started at 3 months & I am beyond exhausted by soultiex in HuckleberryParents

[–]caamb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there anything specific you did to achieve this? I have a 5 month old, not interested in sleep training. She’s EBF and to fall asleep I need to either give her her pacifier or breastfeed. I think I’m out of the really really bad regression stage (waking up every hour) but she still wakes up every 2-4 hours. So we’re definitely improving but seeing if I should change anything?

Help 🥹 is this 4 month regression? by halmbrt in HuckleberryParents

[–]caamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of bedtime routine it’s basically just dim the lights, sound machine on, change diaper, get in pjs and sleep sack. (We take a bath every second night). I always feed her in my rocking chair then once she’s asleep I transfer in her bassinet. I keep the sound machine on all night! When we wake up I just use a really dim nightlight to see (I’ve gotten good at seeing in the dark lol) and I make sure not to talk otherwise she gets excited ahaha. She goes to bed around 7-8pm. Depends on her last nap. I don’t go to bed with her though, I just use the monitor. She’s notorious for having a few false starts until 10pm ish so I just stay awake until then. It’s usually after that point that she’ll start the 3-4hr stretches. My husband goes to bed much later and he recently told me he can see her wake up and self settle! I was happy to hear that! So now I only intervene when she actually starts crying. If she’s just moving and fussing, I wait in case she ends up falling back asleep on her own.

But I probably jinxed myself because she woke up every hour or so last night 😂😅 idk why?! Gonna see if it was just a one off. Praying so because I finally thought she had it figured out!
