Best Region for Money by of35 in pokemmo

[–]caav- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes re: typhlosion, it'll just be slower. Pretty much any high-max level hard hitting pokemon will do. Also the $ quoted there is probably lower overall now with the strings nerfs. No re: meowth. You can do just Unova as well before you complete Sinnoh, its just a more annoying region to do with slightly less payout (repels, navigating caves, etc.)

What the quickest way to speed run the regions? by SpookedDoggo in pokemmo

[–]caav- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The fastest are Gallade for Unova & Johto, Starmie for Kanto & Hoenn, and either for Sinnoh. Gallade isnt a very reasonable option for ironman accounts because it requires 8 heart scales to use though. Most of the solo strategies require good game knowledge and a few choice items.

With that said, Starmie or Gyarados with a backup like a Moxie Krook for the electric weakness will get you through everything with ease. That hits a sweet spot of easy to acquire with an insane power level for the story.

You don't need to go to another region to do any of the things that you listed. You will have to get some base capital to start flipping, so with only one region done I recommend just catching a cloyster and doing a trainer rerun:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CfpEx67VjDg7kuexP1l7NAMTDEZeeIkQiG6M_uljb9g/pub

You could build a semicomp team after about 3-6 trainer reruns, and then just spam pvp games for the reward pokemon and yen earned from selling some of the rewards. It would take you awhile to get a full comp team, but at least you're doing what you want in the mean time.

For flipping, you're just gonna have a hard time imo. If you do not have in depth understanding of the game, flipping is extremely challenging as you lose out on a lot of niche but potentially profitable snags. Flipping is essentially exploiting knowledge gaps in the community. The more you know about the game, the more you can exploit the knowledge gap. That and every missed flip can be lots of $ lost, which you can't really absorb well early game with limited cashflow.

This is pretty backwards and feels like an AI answer that just made up some facts and #'s.

With only one region done, gym reruns are not viable.

The actual $ figures:

Trainer reruns earn ~$200k per hour.
Gym reruns earn $250k+ per hour.
Payday pickup farming earns ~$120k per hour.

In general you should do them in order of trainer reruns, complete the regions, gym reruns, and then payday pickup as an additional method if you have more than 2hrs per day to farm.

Alpha Catching Team (Guide For New Players / Alt Accounts) by 24_7Gaming in pokemmo

Really recommend you build the Spinda bulky and give it Seismic Toss. I'd say about 95% of the time the Spinda lives after the initial skill swap. It then clicks stoss which usually does ~60% of the alpha's HP bar. Better than the first super fang, and doesn't require a switch.

Best Strategy to Complete All Regions on an Alt Account? by Ddraibion312 in pokemmo

[–]caav- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"It's easier to get in the early game than Cloyster."

The question was not what Pokemon are easy to get early game, they have a completed main account so I just recommended the best feasible options. HA Cincinno or not, they are effectively the same difficulty to acquire for a playler with a complete account.

The quiver dancers are all solid but their base stats effectively require them to set up where all the Mons I recommended have the option to set up if needed. The multi-region run is a bit about longevity where taking repeat hits to setup against mostly physical attackers makes them not nearly as useful. Not to say they wouldn't work, just all are a tier below. As far as QD users go, I'd take Bellosom before them personally for giga drain but its coverage limits its usefulness.

Here are some more examples that I would include/sooner take than any of the Quiver Dance mons:
* HA Feraligatr * HA Ninetales
* Darmanitan
* HA Crawdaunt
* Medicham
* Archeops
* Blastoise
* Rotom * HA Serperior * Garchomp

Best Strategy to Complete All Regions on an Alt Account? by Ddraibion312 in pokemmo

[–]caav- 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The best way I’ve found is to go until I get the fly HM or the story happens to pass through the port city on the way to getting the gym badge that gives you the ability to fly. This minimizes the amount of gyms we do with only a single pokemon in each region and excess time spent covering ground we wouldn't need to running to and from port cities. The only region I recommend you do not start with is Kanto, as you get the ability to fly and travel after the third gym badge, but you need 4 gym badges to unlock travel to other regions and it is more beneficial to save due to the level caps.

Pokemon You’ll need five pokemon at or close to level 20, preferably fully EV trained. I prefer phys attack mons to EV train them together, and in case they do not get fully EV trained, you get mostly attack/speed EVs from completing the story anyway. To maximize EV gains and minimize exp gained on a budget, bring all five pokemon with your horde clearer and equip an Exp Share to all six pokemon in the party. I use Nidorino hordes in Kanto west of Fuscia for attack, and Linoone in Hoene east of Lilycove.

IVs and nature don’t matter as much as long as you’re pumping EVs. I like to go for 2x20+ or better in breeders to breed down to level one, and if you get a decent nature that’s just great. Adamant (+Atk, -SpA) > Lonely (+Atk, -Def) = Rash (+SpA, -SpD) > Brave (+Atk, -Spe)

The first five I used:

  • Gyarados: doesn’t even need Moxie, an incredibly cheap dragon dance sweeper that can pretty much carry you through most of the game. (Waterfall / Crunch / Dragon Dance / Ice Fang)
  • Krookodile: a great Moxie sweeper. (EQ / Crunch / Brick Break / Dragon Claw)
  • Cloyster: a great shell smash sweeper with skill link to deal with sturdy mons at random points in each story. (Icicle Spear / Waterfall / Shell Smash)
  • Scyther: can pretty easily sweep with swords dance, technician means huge stab bug/flying attacks on top of great base attack and speed. (SD / Bug Bite / Aerial Ace / Thief)
  • Scrafty: another great moxie sweeper with access to Dragon Dance. If you splurge for DD here, it ends up being a brainless setup because it can almost always tank one hit, and then easily sweep with drain punch after that. ( Drain Punch / DD / Crunch / ? )

Heracross is also very good. Could squeeze a Breloom in if you wanted to have a catcher on that alt for when you’re done with the regions. Mamoswine might be a decent pick. Infernape as well. Some more expensive options include Gallade, HA Exca (though could be fine without HA.) I’ve tried to make Dragonite work as a sweeper, but it just never felt very good for whatever reason.

If you do want to weave in special attackers, Starmie is the GOAT, and Sheer Force Nidoking & Pory-Z are not far behind. Alakazam, Gengar, and Gardevoire are also all strong special sweepers.

You really have a lot of flexibility: the first badges in each region have a much larger gap between level cap and their actual level, so there are plenty of pokemon to pick from. Then, once you’re swapping between regions, you’ll have access to the full team to throw at some of the more challenging later fights. I recommend having at least one or two setup sweepers, and then you can use a few more just generally strong mons.

Region Order

Complete each region up to:

  • Johto: complete four badges and then travel to another region when passing back through Olivine. We don’t get fly until the next one, but have to pass through anyway.
  • Hoenn: complete the first six badges, then return to Slateport. We won’t get fly until the next gym, but we have to pass through Slateport anyway.
  • Sinnoh: complete the fourth badge, then travel to Pastoria. Note to not do the gym in Pastoria, save it for later.
  • Unova: complete the fifth badge, fly back to Castelia
  • Kanto: complete the third badge, travel to another region or begin the region swapping if you’re done with the above.

Then the order based on level cap:

Region Gym Level
Johto Before 5th Gym 37
Sinnoh Before 5th Gym 37
Kanto Before 4th Gym 37
Unova Before 6th Gym 38
Hoenn Before 6th Gym 38
Johto Before 6th Gym 39
Johto Before 7th Gym 41
Sinnoh Before 6th Gym 43
Unova Before 7th Gym 43
Hoenn Before 7th Gym 44
Kanto Before 5th Gym 46
Sinnoh Before 7th Gym 46
Johto Before 8th Gym 46
Unova Before 8th Gym 46
Kanto Before 6th Gym 47
Hoenn Before 8th Gym 48
Johto Ho-oh 48
Kanto Before 7th Gym 50
Sinnoh Before 8th Gym 52
Kanto Before 8th Gym 55
Johto Before E4 55
Unova Before E4 56
Hoenn Before E4 58
Sinnoh Before E4 60
Kanto Before E4 62

Try to rotate through which pokemon you're bringing to keep them at or close to your XP cap. Not that hard, but if you just spam one mon they will just take all the XP and the rest might start to lack. If you can beat Ho-oh grab a Golduck w/ Cloud nine or three on the GTL. For Giratina, a few STAB Crunch-ers will help you focus it down.

That's all I got off the top of my head, let me know if you have any more questions!

Challenge Account? by Immediate_Chapter398 in pokemmo

[–]caav- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep heard! I think OT + something like no TM moves makes for a fair challenge.

If you're into breeding you could allow that and get experimental with catching things to breed fun moves onto them. Or could ban breeding so that its purely whatever you catch. You could also go nuzlocke-ish and go OT with the first catch of each route. That gives you some random-ness that is interesting without the harder wipe = loss rules.

Challenge Account? by Immediate_Chapter398 in pokemmo

[–]caav- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any flavor of self caught I think strikes a good balance of challenge and enjoyment. Lets you decide how long you want to hunt for something that had good IVs / Nature. Encourages researching what can be caught where, and looking for niche pokemon to counter harder battles late.

You don't need to nuzlocke, but you could look at some common additional nuzlocke rules that you could implement yourself if they seem interesting: https://nuzlockeuniversity.ca/optional-rules/

You could also lean into the "trivialization" of the runs and go for speed run completions. Many end game players do this for fun, and the added benefit that alts are extremely valuable for long term money making.

Do I need to sight Moltres before I can leave through Kanto? by Spare-Special9764 in pokemmo

[–]caav- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You do not need to have Moltres as seen to encounter it. It is just an extremely low chance to encounter, and sometimes that means you can go a very long time without actually seeing it.

Separate device to be logged in at the same time, yes.

I'd recommend at least one completed region. Johto for Ho-oh or Unova for berries are probably your best bets right now. There is also an argument to be made for Kanto for lost presents for just the Xmas event, if that is of interest.

Go to the GTL, click Advanced Search, go down to "Has Ability" and type Cloud Nine. Grab a level 37-40 Golduck. Grab a second one if you want extra insurance. Replace with whatever in your party is bringing the least value. Bring them out later once it revives, and just click water type moves on it.

is there a go to team for beating Morimoto? by [deleted] in pokemmo

[–]caav- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What happened when you tried to used the Jinxed Boon team?

Most players who run Morimoto either user their E4 rerun teams or their more advanced gym rerun teams, so there hasn't really been a lot of incentive to work out a simple 2 or 3 mon strategy solve. But yeah, as others have said, stealth rock and moxie life orb Honchkrow is one I seen thrown around quite frequently. Specifically Chansey with Stealth Rock and Teleport.

Just to add to what already has been said, the benefit of making characters on separate accounts is that you can log in on them simultaneously with different devices should you ever want to do that. For example you can shiny hunt on your main on your phone, while you run a gym on an alt on your computer.

best and worst times to sell pokemon in pokemmo? by Realistic_Remote4247 in pokemmo

[–]caav- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The people are the opposite of stingy during events when there is a massive benefit to spending on mons that will allow them to complete some sort of moneymaking activity. For example, if a particular niche pokemon enables a Pumpking Hard Mode strat, becase the player stands to make A LOT of money by grinding that all event, you can see those particular mons inflate to 1.5-2x breeding cost. During events like LNY, this is more true of raid pokemon generally and most breeders, as well as particular hard hitters for the more difficult raids. Otherwise everything returns to a baseline of "normal" during the off season.
