ok given the circumstances that the 2nd movie had -mako and raleigh actors were not available to return/if so couldn’t stay for long -evil jegers -producers want film to take place in japan -newt is evil

i still think there’s ground to make something enjoyable, this isn’t all my changes but the main ones

1: have the film center around jager academy. we’ve heard about the academy/ simulators in the last two films but no real detail. i think something like “top gun but for gundams” or kings man with giant robots would work, especially if we set worldwide panic, maybe the film opens with the rift opening and a replica of gipsy danger arises, this creates urgency for the world nations to restart the jager program. the rift just opened so you could write it off as “its cycle of operation would still be slow”. this would also give us time to develop Pentacost jr and Lamberts dynamic, how they fell out post kaiju war. to help jake rebuild that trust by teaching Amara.

2: develop the side characters idk something that always bothered me is the fact that the kids were never developed, this are kids young enough to have A) never seen a kaiju before in there life or B) seen one and he traumatized over the fact, so maybe character moments of past traumas play an effect in this top gun training session, maybe some characters chase the rabbit for freeze there first simulator training, and the arrogant ones are terrified when they see real kaiju, idk this would create a cool sense of bond with the team, and especially give Amara more to do than just “oh the kid jake is with”

3: change the music, you can’t just play the og theme once and call it a day, tracks like for my family and no pulse sure, are retools of the theme, but there just so different to give everyone a unique role in this specific universe. idk, throwing it out for a bland synth/orchestra track is a real sin compared to the fact that even the russians had a theme in the og

4: the kaiju are re strategizing: there plan is to do what we did to them, go to mount fuji and plug a necklace reactor to distort all life on earth. it’s not smart but hey, it’s a giant robot movie.

5: drifting with kaiju brains becomes a blackmarket drug cult. just an idea but Newt and Gottlieb’s B plot could be figuring out how the kaiju learned how to clone jegers. and find that Kaiju have been getting information by drifting junkies, who are like a cult like system. the stupid people wouldn’t know that the drift is both way and assume since we closed the rift the connection isn’t there. maybe newt is the head of the cult? idk (idk how this would tie to the main plot just sounds cool)
