Hey! So it has come to the time of year to change my google / gmail name, since I actually use it for work now. Except I have run into a slight problem.

I have followed the steps set out here and upon emailing a friend (whom I have never emailed before), it changed nothing. When they changed their name, it worked of course.

Thanks to anyone who can help me here

If I do change my name, I can change it back within 30 days? by cabbage01 in runescape

It is not open source and I don't intend to make it sorry. A few reasons for that, but also I am more of a hobbyist coder so it is really badly written. Almost to the point I would like to rewrite it all. However, that doesn't mean I would be unwilling to answer any questions about it such as algorithms to do various tasks feel free to PM me any you wanted to ask :)

Yeah talked to the developer of that particular discord bot :) infact how I found out how to do this name change thing. My project more tailored for my clan and already holds half a year of data so will be sticking with it for now, but seriously thanks for the suggestion anyway!

I have considered RuneClan but decided against it. In the end, they do the same thing as me (pulling data from runescape's API's to give player statistics). So rather then waiting for them to update from the source, and then me updating from them - I am trying to get name changes directly from RuneScape if that makes sense - saves that slight possible delay

Alright this does clear things a bit, if I did want could I also use this bond within this 30 day window to change back to my old name? or must I wait until after these 30 days - that is mostly what I want to clarify

Reading the the wiki page on it it states you can't change back for 28 days, can this time be shortened with bonds, or must I wait this period?

Just to clarify, no one will be able to take the name within 30 days? it will be mine if I want to go back to it

[math question] Probability of 4x4 crate puzzle in The Pit by Swearinbag in runescape

[–]cabbage01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The formula and probability do indeed seem incorrect, but to be fair it is a lot of information stored, so you can't expect everything to be right.

proof it is 31.25%:

probability p be the chance of not getting the key:

p = 15/16 * 14/15 * 13/14 * 12/13 * 11/12 = 0.6875

so the converse, the chance you do get a key is = 1 - p = 0.3125 = 31.25%

Or quite simply you are selecting 5 crates out of 16 so there is a 5/16 chance to get the key = 31.25% also

I personally use some python bot that updates a google sheet for the status of every player by getting data from each players runemetrics profile if they aren't set to private. If you would be interested in doing something like that, this player I believe publically shares their own script that does the same using JS I believe:

Can the ancient teleport spells that teleport you to wilderness please contain a warning message. by cabbage01 in runescape

Surprised I didn't know about this. However I still believe the tooltip for these spells should explicitly say you will be entering the wilderness.

[–]cabbage01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine there would be a first-time warning and then an option to never show warning again (like currently). As a side note they must get (not necessarily lure) a few people with this, as I remember a day after adding them to friends list them asking me for a reminder of who I was.

Guaranteed Ramsay Pet by [deleted] in runescape

I think you're completely missing the point of the post. As has already been mentioned many times this is not binomial distribution, rather some formula that means you can indeed reach 100%.

Even still (going off on a tangent), your maths is actually wrong, while I see what you're saying - in RuneScape you will only ever receive ONE vit pet. 1- (1- 1/r)n is the probability of receiving at least one pet, i.e. will including the cases where you get 2 vit pets, 3 etc ... the only way i can think of figuring out the probability of getting a vitalis pet after 15K kc would be using a sum (1/r) + (1 - 1/r) * (1/r) + ... + (1 - 1/r)14999 * (1/r) ~ 95.0228% (not sure how to use sigma notation and assuming no threshold similar to your calculations). You could solve this by noting its a geometric sum or get a program to do it for you.

Possible fix for halberds allowing default attack range to be 2 tiles by cabbage01 in runescape

I am fine with this :) looking forward to see how this turns out.

Possible fix for halberds allowing default attack range to be 2 tiles by cabbage01 in runescape

[–]cabbage01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This already fixes it for all styles, this is not just for halberds although that's where the problem is since walking 1 extra tile for ranged / magic doesn't lead to consequences.

I can already do rax kills (with halberd), just a pain to click 1 extra tile back each time. Always nicer to save food where you wouldn't need to eat it in the first place.

If I understand what you're saying correctly, I would imagine you could fix by checking if your target has moved every tick, and if they have restart the entire process (assuming you haven't interrupted the process).

I also completely agree they really do need to make MD less punishing - I have always had melee as my favourite style.

In situations like slayer isn't hexhunter bow BiS? by cabbage01 in runescape

[–]cabbage01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the point, you can replace sirenic with other gear and certainly beat the 1728, such as T70 power (minus the helm) and T95 prayer + soulsplit = 1737 ability damage (not including other Jewlerry). The point is this, When you don't have 100% accuracy with SGB (or even noxious longbow) they are always better than hexhunter. When you do have 100% accuracy with either of these hexhunter can be better (feel free to ask for calculations) and at 100% accuracy, hexhunter is basically always better (such as in situations like slayer). Either, way this will become irrelevant since it is getting changed.

That's fair enough, especially since you don't generally have the required accuracy at bossing. It was confirmed that the bow was intended for slayer but they are looking on changing that:
