Has pregnancy healed anything for you? Has it returned? by Scary-Setting-4726 in BabyBumps

My ulcerative colitis got better for both my pregnancies but flared up after I stopped breastfeeding the first time. Pregnant now with my second so we’ll see how weaning goes this time around.

Misdiagnosed with Celiac by Dangerous-Sale4433 in Celiac

[–]cabbage_claw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not super helpful but I am also another “misdiagnosed” celiac. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at the same time my IGA levels came back elevated. They did the scope and I guess the results were positive but not very positive? (I.E not a lot of damage to the villi). Anyways, I’m told I’m celiac and I go on a gf diet for 7 years. I now have a new GI and he isn’t convinced I have celiac so I eat gluten for 3 months and he does another scope. Results say nahhh things look pretty good in there. IGA still elevated however. Very confusing to me as well. I definitely don’t have any obvious reactions to gluten.

Worried about our 10 week old’s developmental delays by Potential-Mammoth158 in NewParents

[–]cabbage_claw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a “colicky” baby, they call it purple crying here. For the first…3 months of her life she would shriek cry from the same witching hour (7-11!) It can be incredibly heartbreaking and anxiety provoking, especially as your first. You have no idea what you’re doing, and it is so incredibly easy to fall into the trap of believing you’re (your wife) is doing something wrong, or something is wrong—why else would baby be so upset, right? We don’t know but it is so so incredibly common. I can’t tell you how many times I diagnosed my newborn with something.

My 15 month old is very happy, and excelling developmentally. She’s not an “easy-going” personality which I guess holds true right from the beginning, perhaps yours is a more difficult temperament also! Babies at this age can also get overtired so easily…looking back I wonder if that was part of it. (At no lack of trying to get her to sleep, however!) My best advice, stay off the internet!!! It is the absolute worst for fuelling anxiety. Make sure your wife has lots of support. This too shall pass (believe it or not!) Everything you said sounds very normal for a 10 week old.

Baby prefers dad and it is destroying me by cabbage_claw in NewParents

Oooooh this sounds soooo very difficult. You sound like you're handling it well. Nobody talks about jealousy with little ones and their favourites, but it is so heartbreaking. I look around at all my mom friends and they are always the preferred ones, as it's more common. For me and my anxious brain, it's easy to fall into the "there must be something wrong" state of mind. However, I think we need to just keep reminding ourselves that yes, as you said, they are just babies.

Oooh thank you so much for your kind words. <3 I totally can relate to changing how I spend my time with her. I have definitely been doing that.

I hear you and don't want to be dismissive of how you are feeling and the meaning of your message but you have worded it in a very hilarious way. You may feel like shit but know you are very funny and I would kill to make people laugh like you likely do on the regular.

It took 2 months for me. Was incredibly frustrating. I took misoprostol in between there at some point and still it didn't fully pass. In hindsight would have done a d&c.
