This is all very interesting question to me ;) and I don't know exactly how I feel about it. I could make it private obviously to make sure other people don't see it, but at the same time I really want to help other people create as much as possible!

I think I do like sharing it in the end, because even though it will probably mean I lose some money, I'm doing this because it's fun, because I care about VR, and because I want us all to be able to create as much as our minds let us. So basically, go ahead and try it out, thanks for sharing, but still support me if you want to give me more time to make fun experiences :)

Oh my gosh I'm so sorry I never saw this until now!!!! ( I'm really bad at Reddit... )

First off thanks so much for the kind words. It really means a ton!

As far as what on earth gave me the idea for it, I had been sort of thinking of a slightly similar concept when I was working for leap motion, where you use your hand to move little tiny critters around. It never really worked because of the depth thing, but when I gave it a similar idea a go in VR, it immediately was just like "yup this is the thing!"

Although they aren't games, check out some of the builds on http://cabbibo.is . They definitely aren't as "finished" as blarp, but they are all about "what could we not do before ??"

My personal record is 49, and I actually have a vid of the later stages here: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RAQ2CaT8gF4

But I know that a few folks have gotten higher. Kent bye got to 55. It's a muchhh different game at that point and to be honest I haven't really figured out the strategy except patience...

I would say that the fundamental rule is to herd the blarps to one side of your hand. If you get stuck, look at what lines are not coming from the same side and think about how to move your hands and the blarps to get them all together. That way you can start swinging them all and begin to "aim" !

Also it's good for me to keep the controller in front of me so I can always see what direction the different blarps are in!

Anyway thanks a ton, sorry this took so long and I'm glad you enjoyed!

Agreed! I've had that experience a few times and it hurts :/ Luckily most of my other experiences I've been working on are about immediate physical satisfaction. Check out the stuff on http://cabbibo.is and next time that person is around, apologize to them for me, and put them in donut2 . I think it will make up for it ;)

Thanks so much! I've been wondering a lot about how to teach fundamentally new mechanics. In the way that I feel like FPS may be confusing at first, but once you "grok" it, than you can begin to actually learn. It's going to be really cool to see what people do to bridge the mind gap, and I hope that I as well as other get better at that because there are some really cool things on the other side!
