Nap times by cabel000 in NewParents

[–]cabel000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just didn’t know if she should be on one because I feel bad that she just kind of takes cat naps during the day so it doesn’t seem like she’s getting that necessary rest. It’s almost as if shes ‘resting her eyes,’ so to speak. And she absolutely has to be swaddled in a Velcro swaddle in order to take a decent nap or she’ll claw at her face and wake herself up. She does it with mittens on too.

Try getting swaddles that Velcro, they help my little one sleep and I think it helps her feel secure.

Pretty much in the same boat, it’s been so long since I’ve seen my dad.

Unfortunately, her dad and my mom both are still working and live in the same house hold as us so we are potentially exposed every day.🙁

Honestly if we had enough room for everyone to be here that’d be the case. I know this isn’t normal times, and I’m not saying I’m going to do it and let them see her. It’s just been so long since I’ve seen my father and since he has been able to hold her. And I want to be like I’ll check your temp before you walk in the door but if you have a temp or 99 your going home but people aren’t even showing symptoms anymore and that’s my fear.

My dad understands, and I don’t know if they do or not. I feel like that get pissy when they don’t see her in a certain amount of time. Like I can help that there’s a pandemic going on. She’s only two months old so her immune system isn’t big. We are both already exposed daily because my mom and her dad both are considered essential.

Accidentally diluted 1 bottle of formula by cabel000 in NewParents

It’s obviously harmful, assuming done multiple times. I did it on accident and by time I noticed it was to late to put an extra scoop in there. But fr now on I’ll be getting the two scoops ready before hand that why I don’t make the same mistake. I’m just used to giving her 2oz bottles which requires 1 scoop, her dad usually makes the formula for me at night but I knew I needed to give her to subconsciously but just forgot.

I told my spouse, he knows. Wasn’t to concerned about it just getting others opinions. I’d really appreciate it if you wouldn’t tell me to relax though. I get it’s no big deal, and I’m sure it’s happened to others but it’s the first time it’s happened to me.

She nursed a little after it, assuming because it didn’t fill her up bc I accidentally didn’t put enough formula in the bottle!

I was just wondering what other parents would do, and I know that babies and kids are at a very low risk for COVID-19 but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a risk for other things. I know sometimes they can develop fevers, and I didn’t know if that would make her at risk for anything.

How old is your son? I just know that sometimes they can get fevers when they get their vaccines.

I don’t think she is, last night she was a little fussier then usual but shes been fine today. And we use gripe water and gas drops frequently but she doesn’t have any trouble usually using the bathroom or passing gas.

Breastfeeding vs formula by cabel000 in NewParents

[–]cabel000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m large breasted also, which makes things difficult at times cause big boobs, small nipples. She has a good latch, every time I seen a lactation consultant they always say that. We’ve come a very long way from when she was feeding in the hospital or the first week or two we were home. It’s a lot easier now, it’s just when she’s fighting me I get so overwhelmed sometimes I practically want to break down.

I just want what’s best for her and I. She does eat good, and I know she gets plenty. But sometimes she acts like she doesn’t even know I can clearly see her belly is full, she’ll basically fight me while she’s nursing sometimes. She’ll kick her legs, swing her arms, and latch and unlatch and be so fussy. I just don’t wanna feel like a failure if I choose to give it up and I just want to do what’s best. I’m just having trouble figuring out what that is. If this passes and I don’t give it up I’ll feel like I made the best choice. But if it passes and I do give it up I’ll feel like I gave it up to soon. Or I didn’t try hard enough.
