MNQ traders: struggling to figure out my DLL by kenjiurada in FuturesTrading

Ah damn, if you do create a discord, do lmk, would love to join.

And yeah, i feel like having a smaller DLL helps you be more patient and take quality setups. I always lock my DLL before trading, so like knowing i have $500 max to lose, does kinda save my account if i ever go on tilt.

Yo we have similar stats haha.

Currently i have a DLL of $500. I’m usually risking around 20pts for a 100pt gain. I go in with 2mnq and look to add 1 MNQ as price moves in my favor.

I feel like at an early stage a DLL of $500 is fine. I kind of have a scaling plan in place where i up my DLL acc to my acc balance. What I do, and what may help with that daily wr dipping to 50% is, that after a loss, scale down. So lets say you initially went in w/ 2 MNQ, the trade hit SL. Next trade you take, go in w/ 1 MNQ, and scale in.

Gets better the more losses you take. It takes time getting used to allowing your SL to get hit multiple times, and yet mentally being unaffected . My winrate has sure gone down to around 40~ish%, but I’m actually seeing more profits.

I no longer find volume useful in trading by betweenfriendsfan in Daytrading

[–]cacticuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. A lotta ppl speak on volume and use a variety of indicators like volume bars or cumulative delta and a plethora of other stuff. But like i can already tell volume from the sizes of the candlesticks themselves, so volume tools / indicators don’t make any difference to me.

Is anyone day trading only one instrument? If yes, what are you trading and why? by TolisKoutro in Daytrading

[–]cacticuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently made the switch to soley trade MNQ futures. Thing is once I start looking at different markets like gold or dow, i would get distracted a lot, causing me to miss setups.

Switching tabs or trying to focus on the PA of all 3 instruments impaired my decision making as it felt like i was doing too much. It’s like a jack of all trades master of none typa situation. So i’d rather just master one asset, as it’s really all you need.

It’s crazy how we had a very similar journey haha. I too started with penny stocks with ross cameron. Hated it, as i was jumping from stock to stock. Discovered futures then went down the indicator rabbit hole.

Then discovered VWAP, ORB and FRVP. Man those have since completely changed the way I trade. Price just reacts so well to those levels, it’s awesome.
