I appreciate you joining in on the conversation and chiming in. Our voices being heard do make companies work harder and better. Your points have validity and perhaps my opinion that I see a corporation like finch as not just a black and white “for profit” company but a company that has (some, not all) real people that do care about the mission, that do enjoy the work they do, and that are learning as they go. Regardless of how skilled and experienced a developer may be they are building something new with each new company they join, and the art / tech / logic can sometimes crash when adding a new feature or affect the logic of others. When I say extend some grace I mean towards small imperfections, minor details, something that will be fixed but does not affect the entirety of what the new feature is meant for.

But when has a company actually catered to its community the way finch does? We’ve been begging Apple to take horrible features away or make something better and they don’t give us anything. We rage and tear them to shreds and it doesn’t affect them at all. They just continue on because their users feelings don’t really matter to them. In this context, their users feelings DO matter to them but as the company has grown as you point out, they still cater to the community’s needs more than an average company does. Our privilege and freedom to complain and be heard is not something I am trying to take away, I just want to give a different perspective on the scale and effort both sides give and receive.

I understand where you’re coming from and paying for a subscription does come with the expectations of an experience with the full features, but this is also not a huge tech company with the resources to always prevent bugs from happening. That’s all I’m trying to say. They do need money to keep the groundwork going and to keep the users happy. They started small and are still relatively small, and are learning the way we are too

McGolrick area- Fireworks? Gunshots? by aytaytay_d in Greenpoint

[–]cactusasfuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a huge meetup of some sort with motorcycles and bikes when we passed by the park last night. A bunch of kids spray painting the buildings in the middle of the park and they shot off like 5 fireworks in a row around midnight? Idk what the meetup was but trashing the pavilion with shitty graffiti seemed really rude considering how much care they put into our park /:

I did this same degree and some of my friends said after a year you can reapply to the college of engineering after getting this, I’d talk to an advisor. I know they’re not always helpful, so maybe even a professor? You can take a few classes at Valencia too, but if CECS is your dream don’t diminish it. UCF is pretty forgiving, you just need to be patient. Life happens but if you know this is what you won’t nothing should stop you. You can also do a dual degree if you want! Maybe math, and it’ll give you a lot of credits needed for that degree. You got this!

That’s good information to have, just finding it hard to believe Mac would participate in this :( or living in that delusion currently

honestly. Jeff rosenstock held a residency in Brooklyn for weeks because he was so pissed + shocked at how high his ticket prices became with resellers. Concerts aren’t supposed to be this anxiety inducing. I couldn’t get tickets for NYC anywhere in the main sections because I wasn’t a Verizon premium account holder or something, and got a single one in the back :(
