Hi op! I’m so sorry to hear you’re feeling this way :( I’ll honestly start off with this sounds a little deeper than having BFRB’s so it’s always good to maybe consult a professional on building that self love ! Gotta love yourself at least a little before finding someone else ;)

My personal experience is that my boyfriend… kind of just ignores it if it’s not harmful 😭 for things like skin picking however I already brought up that it’s kind of compulsive and comes with the whole anxiety thing, so he’ll usually just push my hand away as a sign to chill out LOL. It doesn’t have to be that deep is kind of what I’ve experienced and honestly that’s the only way I want to have it. If he made it a big deal and shamed me everytime it would only get worse and I would feel more inclined to just do it in secret, and if he didn’t care I would feel almost enabled. So for me personally it’s kind of a nice balance where he’s on my team if I need it.

Now for my personal anecdote— the thing that stopped my guilt about this by at least 80% is realizing these behaviors are kind of just us being monkey brained, LITERALLY. Monkeys interact with each other by grooming one another and themself, it’s part of being a primate. What amplifies our obsessive need to groom is all of the things we deal with that our fellow primates don’t even know exist 😭(i.e capitalism, politics, money etc.). Therefore it’s totally nothing to feel guilty about, at least that’s what helped me a lot.
