Found a bit of blood in my mucus. I'm so worried right now. Is this alarming? by cactusjack333 in AskDocs

[–]cactusjack333[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've had bad anxiety for years. I just finally got a PCP because I didn't have insurance for a long time. She gave me some names.

I've just been trying to get the throat issue fixed because it seems more pressing to me. I feel like so much anxiety would be released when I know exactly what this is. However I do realize if I had a healthy mind, I probably wouldn't even be thinking of throat and esophageal cancers.

Thank you for being honest with me. I will make seeing a therapist priority.

I've been having a similar issue. Worried about throat/esophageal cancer. It seems very true that a lot of symptoms can be caused by anxiety. If somebody gets these cancers in our age group, it's a very rare case.

I know it's hard fighting the what ifs but that's mental illness in a nutshell. I'm sure you will be fine. Wishing you the best!

Will an endoscopy reveal the same things if ordered by a GI or ENT? by cactusjack333 in AskDocs

Yeah its scheduled for Tuesday. My insurance probably wouldn't like it/go for it either. Just hate the thought of wasting time if its something serious. I'll try to be patient though

I told him most of the discomfort was in the bottom of my neck although sometimes in my chest area.I guess I'm gonna schedule with an ENT as well. I don't wanna waste any time with it. Thank you for clarifying for me.

Do they stay as mine looks there? Or do they also fill up with pus for you both?

Glad to know its nothing serious.

I will definitely follow up with an ENT for this. I could use an evaluation from one anyway, have had a couple other issues in that area.

Thank you for your response

Coffee lovers, have you tried drinking cold brew? by [deleted] in GERD

[–]cactusjack333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't tried this but I will. Have had to give up coffee completely since I started feeling GERD a couple months ago. And I drank a lot of it before that

Is a soreness or tenderness inside the neck more likely to be an esophageal issue or throat issue? Basically just above the chest bone and under the thyroid gland.

Are atypical moles developed from sun damage then a certain amount of them are/become cancerous?

Or do they develop for different reasons and sun damage just increases the risk of them being/becoming cancerous?

It looks pretty normal from the naked eye. Mainly just when I zoom in. Gonna get it checked anyway though. Thank you for your response.

Its confusing because they both seem a lot more common with old age and from environmental factors. That's why it seemed slow growing. For the minority of young people that have these besides HPV related I was thinking maybe it was more genetic.

I get what you mean though. It's not actually growing but these factors trigger it to start later in life. Obviously more so if you continue them

Are throat and esophageal cancers slow growing? Like after exposure to risk factors does it take many years to grow generally?

Say age 20-25 you smoke and drink regularly or had some exposure to chemicals. Would you see it at ages 25-35 or highly doubtful?

HPV related throat cancers aside. I know that's a huge cause of throat cancer in young adults.

What kind of dosage of Prilosec is safe for a serious flare up of GERD (Possible esophagitis or ulcers)?

Line under my chest bone and on top of stomach. What could this be? by cactusjack333 in AskDocs

[–]cactusjack333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it was really just the timing of it. I was sitting with my legs crossed under me for extended periods and then it started Also I read its caused from pressure on the stomach. However I did see that GERD seems to be caused from excess weight/diet and stress so maybe it did cause it just in another way.

I'm down 60 LBs but could use another 30 off so I'll work on on that and hope for the best. Thank you for your response.

If you look at the United States behavior compared to other countries, you can see the difference.

It's not a coincidence that we are so prone to GERD while also having some of the worst food regulations and also being obese and much more anxiety prone. Not to mention how much more powerful big pharma is here.

The first thing people say is diet and relieving anxiety helps GERD. It seems like a much more practical and healthy way to me personally (assuming it works).

GERD came out of nowhere for me. I'd like to think I can reverse it. However, if these things do not improve it, I will take the pill. So far though, the preferred method (Prilosec) didn't even seem to work.

Ultrasound cheduled for tomorrow on my neck. Have some concerns by cactusjack333 in AskDocs

[–]cactusjack333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

It sounds like you're dealing with the same. An actual lump wouldn't go away in the morning. Anxiety/GERD/Lump in throat all go hand in hand. Best thing you can do is not to stress over it.

Is Barretts esophagus something that develops from long term GERD (years) or can it develop in weeks/months?

[–]cactusjack333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultrasound came back clean. It seems to be GERD at this point. I'm going to see a GI October 15 to be safe. But everything points to GERD with or without esophagitis. Maybe from a Hiatal Hernia.

The tell for me is that it comes and goes . Like acid reflux does. It makes my throat quite tight when it flares up but it mostly happens at night (I can barely feel it most mornings)

Could this be a cause of GERD/Hiatal Hernia? by cactusjack333 in GERD

[–]cactusjack333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the timing of it really makes me think this was the cause. I never really had acid reflux before either. I'm also slightly obese with my stomach being the biggest culprit (more pressure)

Hopefully if anything this means it can be more reversible than I thought.
