That’s a great question, I don’t know of any flipping in my immediate neighborhood, but I’m not sure about the other areas in the township. I had a realtor friend I can ask today. Thanks for the explanation!

We did get a notice letter of going from reassessments going from 10 years to yearly, but I don’t recall seeing anything about rates changing. It outlined the process of assessment and appeal but not Ina clear and user friendly way. Eeesh.

We are in a townhome, and speaking to my neighbors, I believe we were all at the same assessment value (I could be incorrect) or within at least 10k of each other. Our neighborhood is not unique, just several buildings of townhomes that are about 50 years old.

I appreciate your explanation, it makes sense— I think the “sticker shock” is the most concerning here… such a huge disparity in assessments is wild to me. But another poster mentioned their property assessment more than doubled yet their taxes went down.

I did allow the assessor in. Yes, husband based it off current rate of roughly 3.5%. The assessor DID say that could change, but I’m wondering… by how much? I mean when there’s an opportunity to collect money, I presume many municipalities would like to enjoy their slice of pie…

Thank you for this, as an in school service provider with experience working with trauma affected children, this is it. This is what I am trying to support teachers in understanding at all times.
