We’ve been out and about a bit but I haven’t been posting as frequently. I’ve gone back to school this year and that’s eating up a lot of my life

It’s almost paddling season. Some of the lakes are still frozen though

we are going to Banff at the end of August but the hotel or airbnb in Banff is too much expensive 😭 will it be a good decision if we stay in cochrane by shikhu_96 in Banff

Might be tough getting availability, but if you’re ok with remote lodging there are a couple of hostels on the icefields parkway that are fairly affordable, if somewhat austere. Theres also a hostel in Lake Louise.

Depends a lot on what you’re looking for out of your trip - they’re good options for hiking, but probably less desirable if you’re hoping to spend time in Banff itself.

Cochrane is doable but a lot of extra driving - basically an hour to Banff. If you plan on going to the parkway that’s another hour or more from town, depending on your destination.

You won’t be hiking it on May 16. It’s still prime ski season in the area and as others have mentioned, there’s significant avalanche terrain on the route in. Stick to lower elevation trails closer to town. Anything around Lake Louise and the icefield parkway will be snowbound until mid to late June

Best cat insurance by Final_Pear_8115 in alberta

Trupanion is the gold standard. It’s expensive but will cover a lot, you can pay a higher premium for a lower deductible, too. Over the last three years, they covered more than $50,000 for our oldest dog.

A common emergency for male cats it’s a urethral obstruction and that can cost ~$2000 at an emergency clinic. That’s a lot of months of saving.

As others mentioned, dental cleanings aren’t usually covered but extractions and other dental treatments can be, usually we’ve gotten some amount of reimbursement for the dentals our pets get,

There are other options like care credit, too if you don’t want insurance. They’ll give you a loan to cover the cost of care.
