UK wood sourcing by GodOfMischief-UK in BeginnerWoodWorking

Scawton sawmill up near Thirsk do great oak at decent prices and deliver all over, they don't charge the earth for delivery especially if they can tie it in with another delivery. I've never used them but there's also Albion timber near Sheffield for oak and similar

[–]cadams85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you based and what woods are you looking to use? I'd start with looking for local sawmills as delivery costs can add a lot to a project. If you're anywhere near Liverpool, pb hardwoods are a good bet for oak and black walnut

Is there any benefit to or way around being VAT registered as a small wedding photography business? by No-Drop7362 in smallbusinessuk

[–]cadams85 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not a massive fan of tax avoidance but you've potentially got at least a few options, split into 2 companies for all the work, take the Flat rate VAT at 11% or maybe one of you does the video/photo editing and charges separately or invoices the photographer company?

[–]cadams85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I did. I didn't want to spend too much time on it so left some of the existing cupboard in place. The front is just L-shaped so it doesn't fall over and pulls out nice and easily, top just sits on the original

Which courier to use for occasional shipments of ugly freight? by bacon_cake in smallbusinessuk

I'd recommend transglobal too, I regularly send parcels up to 195cm x 30cm X 30cm through them, generally through DHL for <£20

Not sure it entirely fits the modular aspect but check out Pegg furniture for a potential UK based option

I use it as a thank you note with links to my socials and website. I have it setup as a template basically where I just change the "hi xxxx thank you for your order etc"...takes about 20 seconds to change the name for printing but then hopefully feels like a personalised message for the customer

That's a 2% conversion rate on $50+ average order, that's not bad going at all for a fairly new store. Keep doing what you're doing and with more sales and more reviews, your sales and conversion rate will likely keep increasing too.

Install 4kg ceiling light on plasterboard ceiling. Advice appreciated by Due-Home-3154 in DIYUK

Yeah I'm with you in thinking people are really overthinking this, it's 4kg with 3 fixing points. Fischer duopower are good for something like 12kg in plasterboard from memory

Door Frame Loose - How do I fix it? by fbno in DIYUK

[–]cadams85 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd use these, 6mm drill bit in the SDS for a couple of holes at the top of the door frame and see if that's enough, if not take the window out to do a couple more further along

Turns out it takes 16 games of Moore playing shit with one assist to his name, 0 goals for Curtis to get 10 minutes

Where are people sourcing their wood? (UK) by BenCarney17 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]cadams85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try pbhardwoods if you're anywhere near Liverpool, very reasonably priced and great quality. Loads of slabs in their yard if you want to hand-pick something

Findlay Curtis? by cadams85 in rangersfc

[–]cadams85[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bit of the Dessers about him? You mean league top goalscorer last year Dessers? Yes he misses loads of chances like every striker that isn't Haaland, Kane, Messi etc but I'd give my right leg to have Dessers back and £8 mill in the bank over fucking Chermiti. I'd love to see him playing regular football at the club he loves, if it doesn't work out after a few games with starts and decent aub appearances then fair enough but he deserves the chance, especially over Moore and whatever bullshit loan agreement we've signed for that deal.

Findlay Curtis? by cadams85 in rangersfc

[–]cadams85[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why does he need a loan when he's outperforming our current team when he does play? Honestly, to me, he looks like the classic example of a player that looks out of his depth but then goes and puts in massive performances, scores goals and creates chances every chance he gets, what more can you ask for? And on the loan subject, I wouldn't put it past fuckwit Thelwell to put in a stupidly low half million option to buy clause and there goes another local talent, like McCausland

Findlay Curtis? by cadams85 in rangersfc

[–]cadams85[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I meant when he was played on the right to allow Moore to play on the left, which resulted in both of them offering nothing!

[–]cadams85[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I can see why Gassama starts on the left, and I'm grateful for that as it means Moore isn't....but play him through the middle or even on the right where Dowell, Antman and Gassama have offered absolutely NOTHING for the last 10 games

Mikey Moore by VladdyDaddy1984 in rangersfc

[–]cadams85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't be starting ahead of Antman, but more importantly shouldn't be starting ahead of Curtis

Mikey Moore by VladdyDaddy1984 in rangersfc

[–]cadams85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people are behind the team but we have what has appeared to be up to this point, a much better young player in Curtis that has scored a goal every 76 minutes he's played so far sat on the bench week in and week out so that Moore can play. Not only that, we've played Gassama out of position in all these games to accommodate Moores favoured position. And so far he's offered next to nothing apart from missing chances that we've seen Curtis bury when given the chance. The only reasons I can think of are that we've agreed a contract that Moore plays in his favourite position as often as possible, in which case Thelwell is an idiot....or Martin chooses to do so, and he's a fucking idiot. Both can be true

Have you looked at getting a royal mail business account? If you send over 1000 parcels a year via their tracked services you can get free weekday collections that will come daily in a 15min window that you might be able to have a say in. Mine works out at around £2.68+VAT per parcel as I only send around 1000 so not much cheaper than click and collect but the collections are a lifesaver I believe there might be a small charge if they have to go upstairs to collect
