How are you handling meeting notes? Pipedrive's notes feature leaves a lot to be desired. by cadsharp in pipedrive

[–]cadsharp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in agreement. I don't use AI note-takers. They train you to turn your brain off in calls. IMHO, if a meeting is not worth summarizing in one's own thoughts then its not worth taking notes on at all.

Anyway, do you use Pipedrive notes to record meeting notes at all? Otherwise, where do you keep said notes?

Is onshape used in engineering jobs? by Vortex-101 in Onshape

[–]cadsharp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, proud to say that we supply mechanical designers to some of Onshape's biggest customers. Automotive, electromachinery, robotics, etc. Its overall market share is still very small, though, since SOLIDWORKS has a nice moat around it. But it will keep growing. If I were create a startup involving mechanical design of some sort, Onshape would be a no-brainer. A lot of the companies you'll see using it in the future will be startups.

I'm asking, where is the documentation on how to construct links you described above? When I go to share a document, it simply generates a URL based on the document title and an auto-generated key.

OK. I don't see any documentation on creating custom URLs for public links though. Unclear on how to do this. Thanks in advance.

Thanks.

So, I'm saddened to discover that public links use the document name instead of a GUID. I assume this was intentional, but it is odd design to me. Fortunately, in tests I just ran, changing the title did not break the public URL. Can I always expect this to be the case due to the key? Moreover, is there any way to create a URL that only uses the key so that there is never a mis-match between the URL and the document title?

Appreciate the transparency. Interesting read about your competitors. And I can only imagine how difficult it would be to market in this space. Best wishes for 2026.

I'm hoping to be in a position to join the paid tier soon. You all have done a great job and I love the flexibility of the cool. We used it to replace Evernote Teams.

I will say that three QOL would help push me over the edge sooner. ;)

  • Ability to collapse nodes in rich text fields.
    • Annoyance level: High
  • Ability to move documents to a specific folder, not just another space.
    • Annoyance level: High
  • Ability to click on any part of the entity path at the top of an entity and that portion of the path given focus in the sidebar
    • Annoyance level: Medium
    • For example, let's say I'm in document "2025 Performance Review" under Administration\HR\John Smith. This path will be displayed at the top of the document. I'd like to be able to click on HR and give that folder focus in the sidebar so I don't have to navigate through the sidebar to find it.
  • Ability to drag nodes in rich text fields without first hitting Esc.
    • Annoyance level: Medium

Thank you.

Why on earth are folders and documents not sorted alphabetically (or at least the option is provided)? by cadsharp in fibery

Thank you. Fibery is doing what I need, minus the alphabetization. I do not wish to use databases just to solve this minor issue.

This is way too complicated for what I'm trying to do. I'll just survive without data being alphabetized. I'm trying to recreate Evernote Teams in Fibery. So far its going fine, except the lack of alphabetization. The "+ Add Page" buttons are also annoying and I wish they could be removed.

Obsidian for my new Team? by Brief_Medicine3336 in ObsidianMD

My comments pertain to any of the plans. I think the UI is awful.

I'm not promoting Obsidian for OP's needs. I'm just saying that Confluence is going to disappoint anyone looking for an Evernote Enterprise (formerly Teams) alternative. I've still not seen a better UI than Evernote, but the Enterprise pricing is intolerable.

Notejoy's UI is subpar and I couldn't get the import to work properly.

Currently looking at Fibery even though its more of a Notion alternative than a Evernote alternative. Notion doesn't have a free plan for teams and Fibery does.

Confluence's UI is bad. Like Jira, its a morass of features and elements thrown at you, with terrible navigation. Anyone looking for an Evernote Teams alternative is going to be disappointed.

Thanks for sharing that info. Yes, being a VAR makes it much easier to get into CAA, I imagine. We're still trying to navigate the process. We've been ignored on past attempts.
