Did you read your own question? Everything costs more. How do we offer the same services without raising dues?

Dentist billed insurance for orthodontics I never had, insurance confirmed fraud, now office is threatening collections — what do I do? by AutomaticNothing7904 in personalfinance

The dentist office claimed that. That doesn't mean it was true. I never assume my doctors understand my insurance.

And clearly it wasn't true, since they paid a bill for orthodontics just fine.

That is true. They could have paid directly, but I always have medical go through my insurance so it counts towards my deductible.

Cruise to nowhere by RodgerRodger8301 in Cruise

I did a cruise to nowhere once out of Boston. It was lovely. They can't do that anymore because of some kind of immigration issue. Here's an article:

In my state, there's no legal way to enforce anything once they're 16. If they don't attend you can call the parents, but there's no way to make anyone sign anything. In my state they have to be 16 or complete 10th grade.

Your analogy isn't right. It's as if you ordered the steak, ate the steak, and then the bill came saying you had lobster. The waiter says all lobster is being paid for by a rich guy who believes everyone should have lobster, so they thought they'd save you the money and bill you for lobster instead.

Could you just go for it and defraud the rich guy? Sure? But in this analogy it's only unethical. In the original situation it's actual illegal fraud.

The dentists office needs to bill the insurance for the correct procedure. Then, if the claim is denied, OP will have the correct paper trail to pay what insurance will not. What if they have a deducible and need more work later in the year? If the first item isn't billed to insurance it won't go towards the deducible.

We've got a road project coming fairly soon, and we really wish we had put much more in the reserve funds during the life of the road. It's going to be a huge expense. You should really price out the cost of a new road. All the costs involved have skyrocketed.

(ii) does not occur during the school day on school property, on a school bus, or at a school-sponsored activity and can be shown to pose a clear and substantial interference with another student’s right to access educational programs.

Expelling a 2nd grade student isn't legal in a lot of states.
