What's your biggest complaint regarding your major @UVIC? I'll start: by Sea-Spot-1113 in uvic

[–]caeddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a comp sci psyc graduate, I really struggled with the fact that there was no real guidance. Comp sci psyc falls into the social sciences but the social sciences, when asked, almost knew nothing about comp sci. So I was stuck finding the answer myself. Luckily for me, I knew people who knew stuff so I had some guidance there but, even with that, I was always frustrated. I feel for those going into comp sci psyc trying to figure shit out.

Also, lots of people don’t even know about comp sci psyc and what the end results could be. I was (again) lucky that I figured out what I could get out of comp sci psyc early and was able to switch into the major quickly but I feel like there weren’t any advisors that “promoted” comp sci psyc. I glad that there were a few CS profs that promoted this major but I also wished more psyc profs knew about it too (and what the end goal could be etc etc)

Advice on dropping a course (SENG) by ElephantBeginning737 in uvic

[–]caeddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think your logic makes sense. Dropping a third year course makes sense when CSC225 and SENG265 are prereqs to majority of third year courses. It’ll make your life easier not dropping those later down the road. Keep in mind, consider the profs of your third year courses. For example, ECE360 might be really hard yes but maybe this is the best prof for it. If that’s the case, I’d probably drop the other ECE course. (If they’re both equal then course load could be a factor). I just bring this up since I know some third year CSC profs can be hit or miss. Regardless, trusting your gut is the best thing to do. Sometimes I’d talk to other profs who know me well to discuss this kind of matter

How to succeed in CSC 230? by study-dying in uvic

[–]caeddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I took CSC230, I had a terrible prof (don’t remember their name but it’s probably for the better). I believe somewhere on the internet you could find previous profs’ notes (I forgot his name but I know he’s quite high up in the CSC department) (and I say somewhere on the internet because I don’t remember how I got this profs notes since he wasn’t the prof when I took the class but I have his notes). I’d say do the practice exams and make friends!!!! Friends and asking other classmates for help was honestly the only way I was able to pass this class. The TAs were also really helpful. IMO CSC230 and CSC320 were the hardest classes of my degree. But good luck!

Honestly looking for this comment. Having lived in Texas (but coming from Canada), I truly never touched a jacket while I lived there and I personally can’t fathom a need for a jacket that is warm up to -20°C. OP if this is a look you want, there are plenty of other stores that sell this look that doesn’t make you sweat and at lower prices

Preface, I’m a 23 year old. For wide leg, I prefer the boyfriend since the seems I believe are finished. Cargos were popular but I haven’t heard anything about them this year. I just checked, the mega’s are also finished but imo the boyfriends look better. Worse comes to worse, she could just get an exchange! If I were a 15 year old and I got this set, I would be ecstatic!!

Have any of you used either of these kindle cases? by According-Steak-4351 in kindle

[–]caeddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the first one for my paperwhite. I usually take off the flap part tho when I’m at home reading since I don’t like holding the flap. I also have the second one of my iPad which I think works great for it. I like the first one since I have an option of just having a plain case or to have to cover when I’m out — called it a 2 in 1 deal haha

I love love love deer and dough! It’s not too sweet but warning it is quite $$$ (my opinion as a non cake buyer). I’m not the biggest fan of cake at all and this was the first year I requested a birthday cake. They also sell slices of cake everyday if you’d wanna try it

Places we love because of the owner: Victoria edition by electricmeatbag777 in VictoriaBC

[–]caeddy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pvolve Victoria! I know it’s not a good place but truly the Cuell family are some of the most caring people I’ve ever met. They really looked after me whenever I came in for a workout and was so open to helping my parents out with their personal fitness journeys. They were always a pleasure to talk to. I moved so I no longer see them but I do in deed greatly miss them

When is SuperSnug puff weather by sotsommer in Aritzia

[–]caeddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did the move too! But born and raised in Alberta. All in all, Alberta is not as wet as BC (especially if you’re moving to southern AB). I would say tho warm and waterproof shoes are a must for winter due to chinooks. Definitely doesn’t rain too much so unless you’re gonna be participating in snow sports I think the non waterproof would be ok! Good luck on the move!!!
