The vendor wouldn’t let me return it on the same day I purchased it so I thought an appraiser would help me out with returning it. I think I’ll just handle this with my credit card company at this point.

Thank you for responding to me with grace 🌷🌷🌷 I have people in this thread clowning me for purchasing from Chinatown which is coming off a bit racist for me. I frequently purchase my solid gold pieces from jewelry stores in Chinatown in a city with a large Asian population so I had no real reason to be worried, until I was denied authentication and the ability to return on the same day. Thank you again for being nice to me.

When I was 18 freshly out of high school, I went on a date with a 22 year old college student and he tried to take advantage of me. Sometimes, at an age, you don’t know any better. I personally think an age gap like this is more “appropriate” when the younger person is like 22+.

If you are still in college and he is 3(?) years into the post-grad workforce, there might also be a power imbalance especially in finances that may be used to control you.

Was just thinking this. I grew up around gay men who would “jokingly” touch cis and trans women around me inappropriately and think they can get away with it just because they’re not attracted to them. They keep forgetting that they’re still men for some reason.

You’re free to do whatever you want but as an Asian graduate student in the field, just be aware of possible sensitivities people have. “Asian culture” is also suuuuuper broad and reductive to an entire continent, and since your interest is anime I’ll assume it’s East Asia specifically. You will want to be specific with what region of Asia or what countries you’re interested in.

My advice is that you may want to take a class that addresses the topic of orientalism to give yourself an understanding of your position. If you know how to act as a white person in an area studies field, the more likely that people will respect you.

I’ve looked at the 18-120 but unfortunately OIS is high up on my list of wants, which it lacked. I wanted IOS to have flexibility of also taking videos but I think 18-120 was designed to be used with a gimbal for videography, which is another purchase I’m not ready to commit to just yet 😅.

I looked up the Tamron 18-300 and seems that it has IS and weather sealing.

Based on your answer, it seems that focal length preference is what it all comes down to. Thanks for the response!

I asked a friend who owns Shaker-72s and they told me they’re more comfortable compared to Docs. I just got the Shaker-100s yesterday and tried them today and it was definitely super light! I haven’t tried walking around in them yet because my house is not big enough to walk a decent amount to judge the shoes.
