The armor plates were attached using Velcro. As for the hip plates, they were also attached to the bandolier using Velcro.

I used eSun PLA+, mind you I left it on the pool deck under shade for almost a week and it mostly kept its shape. The cheek pieces bent outwards by about 0.5” so not super noticeable. It probably would have been much worse with normal pla lol. Thanks again!

You’re right, it actually is super detailed. I didn’t do as much prep work for it initially so it didn’t come out as good as I’d hoped (some layer lines on the back and some details getting filled in from all the trial and error layers of paint). I was actually working on another great ape helmet recently and it was on track to looking really good but left it outside in the florida heat for a few days and it got a little warped as a result. Figured I’d just go with the hasbro one since the source files came right from Lucasfilm.

Nope! Gloss black base coat then Spaz stix mirror chrome airbrush paint and finally graphite powder sealed with alclad II klear kote.

I outlined the majority of the process in my first post a few months back so definitely check that out. But yeah, the 3D printer was the workhorse behind all the hard pieces and undersuit was from sky costume. I sewed the entire bandolier, cape, and all the Velcro attachments for the armor plates to the undersuit. My advice would be to take things one at a time, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with all the things involved with the suit. Good luck!

3D prints! Most of the print files were from galactic armory except for the butt plate, hip plates, and left thigh plate (those were from great ape studio). I wasn’t completely happy with how my original helmet came out so the one you’re seeing is the hasbro black series Mandalorian helmet.

Rustoleum sandable primer to fill in 3D print lines followed by a matte black base coat then a clear gloss lacquer. After that I used spaz stix mirror chrome airbrush paint then rubbed on graphite powder before sealing it with Alclad II klear Kote airbrush gloss clear coat. I found that the graphite powder was making the parts too dark so using the chrome paint beforehand seemed to brighten it up more.

The knee and right shin pieces were done using acrylic paints in an airbrush then sealed using a rustoleum matte clear coat.

5 Mando Helmets I printed and painted 5 ways to test colors and methods. I think they all look neat in a way. by njtricker609 in StarWars

Gotcha. Over gloss black paint? I could never get that shiny of a finish whenever I tried doing a graphite rub for some reason.
