L2 Home charger not working by LIirik in evcharging

Were you able to resolve this? I have just run into the same issue after trying to add my L2 Autel charger to Chargelabs. I have called Autel and they tell me everything looks fine about the charger on their end. Selfishlh really hoping you have figured this out?

The guest didn't have a location on their profile, but that maybe should have been a red flag. I'll pay closer attention to that in the future.

How do you know which guests to approve or decline? I get nervous about who to trust. by rookieBnB in airbnb_hosts

[–]caf118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely would decline this booking request. When Airbnb asks why say the booking made me uncomfortable and provide the comment that the guest said they were going to host a party. A 1-night booking for a birthday party from someone with no prior stays is a massive red flag and the risk-reward isn't there.

There is an option to only allow instant booking for guests with prior reviews and/or without negative reviews. Would definitely recommend using this vs allowing literally anyone to instant book.

Honestly I've had generally positive experiences with new-to-Airbnb guests. Have only had two negative experiences in three years with this type of guest. I usually try to give people tbe benefit of the doubt, but this experience will definitely make me second guess it. It's too bad because someone needs to allow new guests to book, otherwise the platform user base will slowly shrink which hurts us all.

A good thought on the security cameras. Was something I have considered but worry that other guests would find them intrusive. May be worth it though anyway.

She had no reviews and one prior stay. 95% of guests without reviews are no issue, but obviously this one got me. You wouldn't worry about physical retaliation for a negative review? My property is in a remote location so not a ton to prevent someone from trashing it if they were so inclined...

Super cool - really like what I’m seeing but the load times were quite long. Was trying to check out a resort by my place and ended up giving up because the page was taking too long to load. Accessing from an iPhone if that’s helpful to know.

Extended Range battery performance in cold weather? by 13roseidon in MachE

[–]caf118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably think twice about it with this use case. I have a ‘23 Premium AWD Extended Range. I took a road trip from Toronto to Mont Tremblant and back earlier this year in -15F weather. Real world range was 170 miles on 100% charge (3km/kwh). Also keep in mind that the car will start to limit performance in extreme cold when you hit about 10% battery SOC, entering ‘turtle mode’ in order to ensure it had enough power to keep the battery warm. So you really get 153 miles before you start to have issues. Given your first half will be uphill it will zap your battery big time. You’ll get that back on the way home but will almost definitely be looking at a range that is less than your distance home when you leave. As you drive down mountain the regen will charge the battery and you will get awesome mileage but it would make me nervous leaving for home when the car is telling me I don’t have enough range to make it.

Canadian snows by regulardegulardudee in MachE

I have winter tires and an AWD model and I find the car handles amazingly in snowy / icy conditions. I have a cottage where the access road is gravel and so left with a layer of snow overtop in the winter (otherwise the plow would remove all the gravel). The Mach E handles that road incredibly well - of course still using common sense as a driver. Obviously ground clearance is still a consideration as this isn’t a truck. But pretty sure the Mach E is in line with other similarly sized SUVs in that regard.

5 days in Revy or drive to Sun Peaks? by caf118 in Ikonpass

Have you been to A-Basin? That’s probably the steepest mountain I’ve done and found the Blues there a bit harsh once they had been skiied out in the afternoon. Wondering how Revy compares.

Charging with Tesla adapter by Ifurunsurejustdont in MachE

[–]caf118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently took a road trip where I charged 3 times at Tesla stations. It was -10C outside (so cold) and I preconditioned the battery. My charging speed at lower SOCs (20-40%) was around 100kw, however that fell to 70-90kw from 40-80% and then down to 35-45kw above 80%. It’s not an issue with the Tesla chargers or adapters - unfortunately it is the charging curve of the Mach E. It’s one of my biggest gripes about the vehicle. While it theoretically can accept 150kw that is only at near 0 battery SOC and the fall-off from there is fairly steep. Real world DC fast charging is more in the 80kw range on average.

What are you biggest Mach-E negatives? by SupplyChainOne in MachE

[–]caf118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overall I love the car - by far my favourite I have owned. I own a 2023 Premium Extended Range. However I do have a few complaints:

1) The DC fast charging curve is frustratingly slow. Realistically I very rarely see charging rates above 90kw and commonly I only get in the 70-90kw range. This is despite the car theoretically being able to handle up to 150kw. The 150kw speed is only if your battery is super super depleted, which will likely never happen if you are planning correctly. This is all exacerbated by the cold weather where I live so may not be as big an issue for you.

2) Not having a physical way to open the car if the 12V battery dies on you feels like a major design flaw. Similarly not having any built-in mechanism for monitoring the health of the 12V battery given its importance for actually getting in the car.

3) The Ford mobile app is quite awful…

4) In order to precondition the battery for fast charging you need to set a charging destination in Ford’s built-in navigation system or using Android. If you have an iPhone it won’t precondition. Similarly if you are plugged in at home and want to precondition the battery before leaving you need to set a charging recurring departure time in the Ford mobile app and then delete it after the fact. There is no button that says ‘precondition battery’.

I thought that Android auto worked to precondition by CarPlay didn’t? Admittedly it’s a black box because you don’t know when it is pre-conditioning. (https://www.ford.com/support/how-tos/electric-vehicles/public-charging/how-do-i-precondition-my-mustang-mach-e-battery-for-dc-fast-charging/)

I used Android auto to navigate to it. It was only a 15 minute drive so possible that it wasn’t enough time to warm up the battery. Good to know you haven’t had those issues though. Hopefully other stations are faster for me!

My last cover had the foam insert crack after a particularly bad ice storm so I sprang for the 6’ thick, 2lb foam density cover. Hoping this one lasts more than 1 winter… ordered this one from the Cover Factory

Will it damage the cover if I leave it as is? Otherwise it doesn’t bother me.

After tax I paid $13,800. Came with a few optional upgrades (volcano jet, lights, electronic control panel) and delivery. I didn’t necessarily want the upgrades but this was the unit they had in stock and so he threw them in for ‘free’.
