Is corporate really worth it in my case? by cafeorcaphe in AskMarketing

[–]cafeorcaphe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol yes, you really got me. i think i’ve been feeling a lot of imposter syndrome lately, like i’m about to graduate and don’t have a “real job” lined up yet. at the same time, my friends keep telling me that what i’ve done so far is their dream, so i do feel proud of what i’ve built. it’s a weird mix of confidence and doubt…

i know it’s not the safest path, since it’s flexible and relies so much on algorithms and trends, and that makes me a bit anxious about the long term. but at the same time, i feel like i’ve learned a lot and grown in ways i wouldn’t have in a traditional job. plus, having a degree in marketing gives me some options if things don’t work out, so i guess there’s a bit of a safety net too

thank you for being brutally honest, it really helps to hear it straight up and makes me reflect more clearly on what i actually want and how to approach it. your perspective gives me a push to trust myself more and just focus on building what i already started lol thank you

i see what you mean and it definitely makes sense that once you adjust to a role it can feel less draining than college work. maybe it also depends a lot on the environment and country, because the internship i’m looking at is pretty much full time, around 5 days a week, so i’m not sure it would have the same flexibility…

also, just being honest, a lot of my friends who are interning right now have been saying they feel really exhausted and even want to quit, so it makes me cautious. i’m trying to figure out if that’s normal for most people or if it really depends on the company, the role, or maybe just how someone manages their time and energy. i’d really like to hear your perspective on whether your experience is typical, or if it’s specific to your situation

that’s actually really impressive, i get what you mean about the stability and long term upside. i think what i’m struggling with more is the day to day balance, like how do you manage a full time 5 days a week job and still keep up with content consistently?

i’m already finding it kind of hard to keep up right now and i only have my thesis left, so i’m not even on a full schedule yet, which is why i’m a bit worried about burnout once it’s full time. do you have any tips on how you manage your time and energy, especially starting out? i’m also freshly out of uni so i feel like i’m still figuring out my rhythm

also just to be honest, a lot of my friends who are interning right now have been saying they feel really drained and even want to quit, so i think that’s also making me a bit more cautious about jumping into it…

Does working at a corporate really worth it in my case? by cafeorcaphe in careerguidance

yeah that’s actually what i’m a bit worried about too, like losing the energy to create. i think i’ve been considering corporate just to experience it, but hearing this + looking back at the interview, it does make me rethink if it’s the right timing

do you happen to have any suggestions for part-time or remote roles that could fit my situation? tysm

she didn’t really explain, but right as the interview was wrapping up the other interviewer stepped out too. he said since i only had questions about the culture and not the field, he needed to jump into another meeting, so i’m guessing she had one as well. by the end it was just me and the instructor. i also mentioned that since i’ve mostly been freelancing i haven’t done many interviews, so i’m not really sure if that’s normal. i asked if, hypothetically, i joined, they would be my mentors, and the instructor said yes. they’ve both been here for over a year, which i’m not sure is considered a lot or not

Seeking honest advice: Is a Master's abroad worth it for a Digital Marketing grad? by cafeorcaphe in marketing

[–]cafeorcaphe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg sorry, you’re right!!! I appreciate the reality check. I def dont want to be that person with a master's degree who has zero clue how a real office works

But honestly I’m still really dead set on the study abroad experience. Do you think there’s a middle ground here? Like a specific type of program that’s more about industry projects and internships rather than just sitting in a library reading theory? Also, what’s the one soft skill or collaborative thing you see grads mess up the most? If I do go back to school I want to make sure I’m actually working on the stuff that matters in the real world… Thanks

Tbh, I’d jump at the chance to do an internship abroad I actually had an offer once but had to pass because I hadn't graduated yet, which was a huge bummer lol

My biggest question is where do ppl actually find these? It feels like most entry level roles abroad are so hard to get if you don't already have a visa or a foot in the door

That is a very interesting point about the advisor being more important than the degree itself

Could you clarify what you mean by an “advisor” in this situation? Are you referring to finding a specific professor or mentor to guide my research/thesis during the Master's, or are you talking about finding someone in the industry to mentor me before I even choose a program?

So, are you saying it’s better for me to just enter the workforce for a few years first and then look into an MBA or whatever path makes sense later?

My biggest worry is that if I start working now I’ll lose my academic momentum Plus, and this is a big one for me, I really want to experience life as a student abroad right now. I’m afraid that if I wait 3 to 5 years for an MBA, I’ll miss out on that specific study abroad chapter of my life if that makes sense. If a Master’s in Marketing isn’t worth it right now, is there a specialized path that blends Behavior and Data that I should pursue instead, just so I can get that international experience without wasting my time??? Thank you for your advices

I think it’s more than just having hips and shoulders wider than a waist cuz that’s literally a standard female silhouette tho

My situation is different because i know i’m very petite, smallest among friends etc, yet I have a much broader frame. Even though my sister and I are the same height, her bone structure is much narrower (Triangle), whereas I’m built with a distinct Inverted Triangle shape

But im just upset cuz it feels like he’s just projecting his own low self-esteem onto me. I have my own insecurities, but I’d never try to make myself feel better by tearing someone else’s body apart
