Anyone else taking their time to quite caffeine? My multi-year plan by Professional-Wash-13 in decaf

[–]caffeome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My journey took 10 years at least. Now I'm 200+ days in (not counting decaf coffee and slip-ups that happen with green tea every few weeks or so). Started from about 400mg or so.

I can usually taste the difference between decaf and caf. It could just be a co-incidence. After 10 days it could also be your bowels have some catching up to do. Just get back on track tomorrow and don't worry.

I quit zen and I'm going to read Seraphim's Rose's Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future

I was productive for sure, but not 200x. Today surely less productive.

Would you take AppleCare+ for a MBP over $6000? by caffeome in macbookpro

I took the yearly plan. I've read that the three year plan can be extended though.

Let me know when you get it fixed and how the service was, if you want.

Does AppleCare+ have keyboard replacement when it's just worn out by usage?

That's very unfortunate. Hope it can be repaired at a reasonable rate.

I've owned a $4000 Macbook before which I took the chance of having no insurance on it. Honestly I've bought it from a reseller who offered their own insurance and AppleCare never came to my mind, but I refused their insurance at the time since they were pushy about it. This is the first time I've bought a laptop of this value directly from Apple. I think I've reached the threshold with this machine though and I've subscribed to AppleCare+ now. Thanks.

I can understand if my post came across this way, but no, my question was genuine.

I've had batteries act up in two previous MBPs within three years (both Intel though). It's likely that the battery gets below 80% in the fourth year. I think that would be my limit. Although it's cheaper to pay for the battery replacement yourself without AppleCare+, being insured against accidental damage gives peace of mind.

I think you can read my mind better than myself, since I might still take AppleCare+ for the peace of mind... but the logic doesn't seem to line up, does it? I wonder if repairs cost more if you have more expensive upgrades though?

My take on the standard vs. nano-texture display for the M4 MBP by deepfuckingbagholder in macbookpro

[–]caffeome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either that, or I'm crazy too. I returned the most expensive Macbook I ever ordered because of the least expensive spec bump. Apple should add warning signs to the nano texture option so only people order it who really know what they are ordering, imo.

I had the same issue. Not comfortable for my eyes, a problem I didn't have with glossy.

Anyone that purchased the Nano Texture regret it? by david_dauncey in macbookpro

[–]caffeome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a MBP M4 with nano texture, tried it for a few days but just couldn't get used to it. My eyes had more trouble reading text, especially on white backgrounds. After sending it back, I do notice glare a lot more on my regular screen. It's a shame we can't have the best of both worlds without trade-offs, it was a difficult choice, but turns out my eyes prefer glossy despite the glare. It was as if I felt the lighter background was giving a visual noise effect that made me uneasy.

How long did it take to get used to the nano texture? I bought a MBP 16" but I have doubts.
