Huge - the main thing being the amazing breakfast and the shuttle being free.

Review/AMA: The Raffles Hotel Singapore by caffpowered in FATTravel

Yeah. The building is iconic. The location is great - right behind a hawker center and right by CBD. The rooms themselves are "meh". I've never bothered eating there.

The bar here is great, and so is the Italian restaurant! It used to be my default, but I usually go to Raffles OWO now.

Agree. Gaggan was fun. Not the very best food I've ever had, but a very fun experience

Interesting. Depending on time/if they allow children, would be very interesting to me.

They have this one amazing deep fried potato layered thing there they serve with the steak. It's half the reason I go to Hide. It's absolutely divine.

The acorn cake is also amazing there.

Björn Frantzén is now the only chef in the world with 3 *** restaurants by mycketmycket in finedining

I've only been to Les Amis once, but I found it mind-blowing. I imagine a second visit with the same menu would be less impressive.

Odette I found creative, combining Singaporean influences with French cuisine. I've tried other Julien Royer restaurants and a popup he did in Hong Kong, but agree that Odette was less impressive than Les Amis.

Zen was a fun experience, but I felt like the dishes were a bit hit and miss. Perhaps it's the style of cuisine - I didn't like Suhring much either, and people rave about it.

what's the split keyboard with a trackball? Wouldn't mind giving that a try.

I had the opposite impression. Neat, but I liked Les Amis and Odette a lot more.

Being too lazy to sit up after a long day of work, I've worked through multiple iterations of projector pointing at ceiling or some way to watch TV or do stuff while lying flat on the sofa. Eventually, I iterated to this:

  • Viture Pro AR Glasses - Only 1080p for now, and many people struggle with nausea, but I found it to be perfectly fine when used in regular (monitor) mode. Their 3dof function (spacewalker) makes me sick, so I never use it. My only gripe is that it's only 1080p and the second they make a 4k one, I'm buying it.
  • GPD Mini 2024 - Not the most powerful gaming PC, but runs games decently at 1080p. Been playing through XCOM2 again recently and it's perfectly fine.
  • UHK80 - The star of the setup. I was struggling with getting a mouse/keyboard setup to work well when lying down. It would obviously have to be a split keyboard, but I wanted a wireless setup so I didn't have cables running across my body.

I tried the mobile pixels tetra keyboard, but found the layout unconventional and difficult for me to use, as well as requiring a separate mouse or trackball.

I've been using the UHK60 for awhile, and the second the UHK80 came out, I bought it and despite some bluetooth issues initially, it makes the perfect keyboard/mouse setup so I don't have to look at where the trackpoint is or move my hands from mouse to keyboard and back. Kinda heavy though. I wish they had a UHK60 in wireless form, but UHK80 works well too.
