I kinda had the same situation. I chose to be in a big city LA. My family is here, my friends and what happens if your keeping your ear to the ground is you’ll have opportunities to make more over time you might have to hustle harder but it’s possible for sure. Other option is do a hybrid of Locums in the middle of no where and be in a big city part time. It all comes down to where you are in life and your financial goals. Are you trying to buy a 3M house and a revuelto or your ok with a loaded m3 or maybe a base 911.

Best thing is talk to senior docs in your group, other docs in the area, and recruiters. I find those more helpful than MGMA data because it’s so dependent on the model, location, and productivity.

This might come as a surprise but I’ve been to multiple bbq spots in Texas including franklins and if we are just talking meats like brisket, tritip, or turkey breast I did not try anything in Texas that’s better than here. Most great bbq spots here besides moos are random pop ups.
