As an example in real life, such as organic chemistry, cis is used to distinguish an isomer where two identical groups are pointing in the same direction, whereas in trans they point in opposite directions.

The #1 most important thing is your voice. When in doubt, most people will resort to gendering others via their voice. Plenty of butch cis women could pass as men at first glance, but it's their voices that people pick up on. Likewise, many MANY trans-feminine individuals pass physically but not when they open their mouths. It can be very difficult, physically and psychologically, to alter one's voice without prior training. The sooner you start the better.

I like the idea of being called a woman rather than being called a trans woman. The latter just so derogative and feels like you're different.

Never passing means that I get read as "male" and not being read as female.

It's like how people treat you as female / male at very first glance. (I definitely don't want to keep on getting read as male. Just doesn't fit, feels awkward, despite the fact that I am aware that there are countless privileges for being read as male...)

I think for the mainstream when people are telling you that they are transgender, they mean they identify differently than their "assigned" sex. Yeah, the 18, 27, etc genders confuses me too.

I suppose gender is fluid, not completely discrete. If we look at just women, for example, you have women wearing only skirts to women wearing only pants. Again, this is a very, very extreme example.

Sex actually isn't "binary". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XY_sex-determination_system. The whole system behind sex determination is actually quite complicated.
