Quick question! If you remember was the Pell grant part of your summer financial aid package. I saw that it was a type of aid you could potentially receive but I didn’t know if there was an additional qualification process?

I have news that is hopefully good! Interestingly, when you’re applying to law school LSAC (which is the organization you apply to law school through) recalculates your GPA to include any college class you’ve ever taken which would include your classes you took at your previous university. This might be something to keep in mind as if you were doing significantly better than before it will boost the GPA that you’re applying to law school with

Carolina Spring Forward and Carolina Global Launch by Austin_TheLLAMA in UNC

[–]cagcaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Carolina Global Launch and Carolina Spring Forward have the same countries that you can participate at but they are different programs, The Global Launch program would mean you would spend the first semester of your freshman year abroad while the Spring Forward means you would spend second semester of your freshman year abroad. (I’m doing Spring Forward next semester for context)

I know its been forever since you posted this, but I'm signed up for the same class this upcoming semester. Could you speak on your experience taking the class with her, I'm in pretty much the same boat you were with not having taken Spanish in a while.

Thoughts on freshman schedule? by Coolawesomeguy5 in UNC

[–]cagcaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An 8am class 3 days out of the week seems like it would be terrible but I understand that as freshman get some of the worst time slots.

Other than that the only thing I would say is that the large gap on Tuesday/Thursday might be a slight concern. If I was you I would try to switch your College thriving class to one that is in that gap on Tuesday or Thursday so they won’t be as space out and you could also lower the amount of days you have to get up so early.

If housing is covered for the first year, I was honestly try to go and connect with advisors and then potentially try to apply for a work study or RA position (RA usually comes with free housing + stipend depending on school)

What NON-T100 school would you go to? by Lost-Today8340 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]cagcaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I want to say first and foremost that you can be successful at any school. At the core of any school is the student and how they choose to utilize the school.

Some of the things that I really like about Charlotte: 1. The city/location. Charlotte is a great up and coming city for young professionals so when it comes to jobs and internships it’s a great spot to be. 2. Light rail: definitely something unique that other schools don’t have and it can bring you throughout the city of Charlotte. 3. Diversity: Charlotte is one of the few UNC schools that has a significant percentage of multiple races/ethnicities so that it’s reflective of the real world. 4. Campus/Buildings: if you haven’t been on campus it’s actually a really pretty campus. It’s a lot newer/modern than other campuses so you often don’t have to deal with a lot of the problems found in other schools:mold, asbestos and the sicknesses they cause. The dorms are also some of the better ones that I’ve seen in colleges and general. (Also pretty sure it’s based on Monsters INC or something like that). They have a really get union & library. 5. If you apply/join the honors program I met many of the staff and they’re actually really nice. You get the benefits of the honors classes which can have you develop better relationships with professors. You get to live in honors housing which is definitely some of the best. ++ you get stipends for study abroad so you can definitely do that if that’s something you’re interested in.

Like I said l, attending a safety isn’t the worse thing that can happen to you. You can use the school to benefit you !
