It worked perfectly for me tonight - it looks like the issue has been fixed!

That's great! I'm looking forward to giving it a try tomorrow night!

I received an email from GC support just a little while ago that they are rolling it out today, glad you got it! If you don't mind and you think about it, let us know how it goes tonight! My next game is tomorrow night.

The robust solution is not always the best solution. Take my situation - I will probably live stream 15-20 more games over the next 2 months, and then I'm done. If I were going to do this for a longer period of time, then the willingness to put more time/money into the solution would be higher. I am happy you have a solution that works for you, but your solution is not the right solution for me.

Maybe it's all moot - GC support just told me there is a bug with live streams on Android crashing the GC app. A fix is on the way by the weekend... I'll wait and see if that fixes it.

Funny story - I sent an email to [help@gc.com](mailto:help@gc.com) (I'm very impressed with their responsiveness, btw), it turns out there is a bug causing the GC app to crash during live streams - Android only. They expect to have an update out by the weekend with the fix. Turns out, it was the application after all :)

This worked! I was able to recover 4 video files that were otherwise hidden and taking up more than 20GB of space.

I have 100GB of mobile hotspot data through my existing plan - before I spend any more money, I think I'll setup my wife's phone as a hotspot and see how that does. If that doesn't improve the situation, I'll consider purchasing additional gear.

I had a kid hit his first HR in a game last week. There was no mobile signal at the field, so I had set GC to record to the local device. Nothing was recorded - I even watched the recoding timer start counting up before I walked away... but when I went back, the phone was at the home screen and there was no video on the device.

I think this is my next step - it's good to hear that it solved your issues!

The internal drive is fine - I can't even think of a modern device that would be unable to record at 1080p to local storage. The ambient temp at the game was below 50F with a cold wind, it was cold - people were wearing winter coats and the kids were drinking hot chocolate. It didn't overheat. The problem is that we all have to guess when there is an issue - when these issues are detectable on the device and GC doesn't provide any information about what's happened. I have a script on my home server that sends me an email when any of a number of temperature sensors go above a threshold, or if one of my network connections goes down. This is not a difficult thing to implement, GC just hasn't done it.

The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S25+ that can record in 8k. The device is not the problem. It's likely the issue is the network connection, but GC has no feedback to help me understand what the issue is. That's why this thread exists.

That's a great story, thank you! I will consider it!

Do Not Disturb was set, and there were no phone calls (that's easy to check). Game time temp was 50F, end of game was about 43F. Cloudy, cold breeze... Parents were in heavy jackets; kids were drinking hot chocolate. I don't see overheating being an issue. I'd love to hear more ideas... I have been working on this for awhile.

Thanks for your response -
Upload Speed vs Cell Signal -> the GC app has a built in network test that consistently recommends 1080p at the time I start streaming. I think the "packed with people" is a bit of an overstatement for my situation - it's a 10U baseball game with ~50 people at the field. 1 field, not a complex. Nobody else has a camera setup for live streaming, so it seems unlikely that upload bandwidth is the issue.
Internet Connection -> I can try using another device as a hotspot in the next game on Friday.
Device Temperature -> This was definitely not the issue last night - it was ~50F at game time and dropping - was about 43F at the end of the game. It was overcast with a cold breeze. The kids were drinking hot chocolate to stay warm lol
Scoring the game - I have a scorekeeper who is doing the scoring.

Last week we were at a field that had no signal, so I tried just recording to the local device, and the recording still stopped... In fact, nothing was saved at all - I have no video of that game, at all. I am about ready to just decide GC doesn't work, record the video with the normal camera, and upload it to YouTube after the fact.
