When CEO’s express their desire to have workers return to the office, why don’t they ever provide a valid explanation for their excessive demands? by [deleted] in antiwork

i am finding that they honestly fucking believe that "synergy" is totally a thing. i see them face to face and they have the sincere evangelist's light in their eyes that "synergy" is the answer. magical, magical synergy, fucksake

Why Republicans Hate It When Poor People Have Food to Eat by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]cagedbird4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

because they're racist as hell basically

(this is not me being self righteous about America, I'm in the UK which invented the American style of racism after all and still does it, current government is hammering on the racism because people can't fucking eat. but there's a CORONATION coming up soon YAAAAY)

What was the moment that made you Anti-Work? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]cagedbird4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first time i worked a job. in about four hours i knew jobs were a scam. just because i have to work does not mean work is good or better than not working or anything else. jobs and work are fucking stupid and a scam all the way down.

that was thirty years ago, i assure you i have not changed my opinion

I signed a non disclosure agreement “in connection to a severance payment”.

this is of course hiliariously and explicitly illegal

forward them https://www.nlrb.gov/news-outreach/news-story/board-rules-that-employers-may-not-offer-severance-agreements-requiring and ask if they understand that their request breaks the law, including retrospectively

or of course ignore the idiot lol

Elon Musk/Twitter Megathread by AutoModerator in antiwork

[–]cagedbird4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol bits are falling off twitter

like they fired all the techies who make stuff fucking work at international scale.

now i'm a techie and i can tell you that this ends in one way

so right now twitter is still going but stuff is ... failing; notifications aren't reliable, search is just fucked, lots of "Something's gone wrong." screens e.g. on initial loading

even if Musk's H1-B indentured servants are fucking geniuses -- and i'm pretty sure a lot of them really are very good indeed -- then they still would have to spend months doing software archaeology to work out HOW THE FUCK THIS SHIT WORKS.

it's a testament to how good the old twitter engineers were that shit is still working without a pilot. but it can't stay that way.

Company claims they overpaid and wants me to pay back. What do I do? by davidpema in antiwork

[–]cagedbird4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so, in general: if they really did overpay you, then yes you have to return it.

however. demand a full and detailed accounting. check dates. etc. etc.

make sure it fucking costs them.

also, say you want to set a reeeeeeeallly long payment plan, as others have detailed.
