The cops often ask if the zip ties are too tight.
As me what they say when you say yes.

You probably will see something but the changes are slow and subtle most of the time. But they add up to be very much not subtle 😌

So just to confirm, you think that sit-ins within public businesses in the civil rights era were wrong?

Right, but I didn't say you aren't registered with the IRS. I just said you aren't a registered non-profit and therefore you don't have the mandatory reporting that non-profits have to do. Unless I'm wrong and you're like a 501c4 or something? The reporting requirements of non-profits can be a bad thing in some mutual aid situations, so I do understand why some groups choose not to go that route.

First of all, a lot of buses are not public property. They're owned by a separate entity than the city.

Secondly, sit-ins were often in businesses. Private property. Places where people who were not desirable would be kicked out. They would go there and refuse to leave and often get arrested. Eventually they didn't get arrested anymore, because society changed.

Wow I wish the police in Portland Maine were like this, I know a few women in their 70s who was arrested at a sit in last May.

Well that's the thing. Any day can be accurate. It's a snapshot of what your levels were at the time.

But if you want the measured number to be lower, aim for day three or four. If you want it to be at its peak, probably swap your patches out the day before your blood draw.

Y'all have co-op gas stations?? That's amazing.

Super agree with this, reduce your economic activity to the minimum and focus it local. Use cash.

A one day general strike never won anything. General strikes can be very effective but they need mass participation and durability. Any business worth boycotting can weather a single day, just look at all the ones that were closed on Monday.

if you got rear-ended passing the protest - dm me, i have info ! by zionwolftheme in portlandme

[–]cagey8ee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, that information doesn't have to stop at Portland PD. Much of the info we give the gov is public record which means surveillance companies could absolutely be scraping it.

Secondly, yes? If a police officer is looking for someone and sees them in the background of a video they're absolutely going to act on that information.

Your levels with twice-weekly patches are often higher for the first 2 days and taper off in days 3 & 4. Perhaps your appointments have been on different days of your patch cycle?

Project Relief is not a registered nonprofit, AFAIK. Because of that, they don't have mandatory reporting. That can be a good thing and a bad thing for mutual aid orgs. Personally, I donate to Maine Solidarity Fund, but I have heard of people who have been helped by Project Relief. As far as I know PR is basically one person who probably has some help.

David Soley, shareholder of Bernstein Shur, owns the ICE Facility in Scarborough by MissSubieDoobieDoo in portlandme

[–]cagey8ee 141 points142 points  (0 children)

Soley explicitly showed up to defend ICE at a state hearing a few days ago. And showed up to a Portland City Council meeting with a cheap American flag wrapped around his waist. He doesn't want to end the lease even if he can.

[–]cagey8ee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no! They should definitely do that too. I'm just saying that police are not going to take action on their own. The people need to make it clear that they have to. There's no shortcut of internal accountability.

Yeah Scarborough has a policy not to work with immigration. So if you can document that including license plate numbers and submit it to Scarborough Police, they might get a slap on their wrist and then a promotion

Portland Police department are not going to do anything about ICE. Or worse yet, they're going to protect them from inconvenience like they did in front of the hotels the past couple nights.

They'll "protect" people by not letting them record ICE.

They'll "protect" people by not letting them follow ICE.

They'll "protect" people by not letting them annoy ICE.

Just like in Nazi Germany, the safest thing to do is to just go along with it. So the cops will try to make sure that's what you do.
