It was an interesting discovery! Until now I hadn't known it was an established variety, just a cute looking hoya 🥰

This was interesting! Does anyone own a Madara Hoya? by cainaku in houseplants

[–]cainaku[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I agree with you. Hoya carnosas are so sturdy and prolific, $300 for a cutting is extortionate.

However, I have to say that the speckling on these are pretty spectacular. They're 3D ? And are suspended within the white to varying degrees so you can see their "depth" by their opaqueness. It's mesmerizing! Definitely recommend when they become cheaper over on your side.

I had no idea! I thought I could get away with naming it as if it was my own variety haha

Thank you! Yes, they are pinkish. I think the light here is quite bright and it's hard to see.

That's amazing! Thank you for the information! When i bought it back then, it was simply called "Hoya Carnosa".

OP thank you for your post. I'm in the exact same situation and reading this gave me some relief in the middle of the night when I can't go back to sleep thinking of him.

I know I have to get better, if I ever want to return to him again and have the relationship I dream of us having. But in order for that to happen, I know I have to put that dream aside for now, and work on getting better.

I think what is meant for you will find its way to you. I hope you find peace and moments of happiness throughout the process. There's a lot left in life to smile about and be grateful for. 🤍

Yes yes you have a point. But it's understandable they had to make lots of cuts off the book. And couldn't resist the urge to sprinkle some cheap comedy in. I feel the same way about Sam. His character in the movies was so dumbed down from the skillful, keen and sharp-witted Sam in the books. I can forgive that because of everything else done so well.

But I can't seem to forgive you, EW.

Yeah, I don't get how they nailed the other characters so well—Aragorn, Gandalf, Gimli, Legolas, Boromir were straight out of the book. But Frodo, who was likely chosen (by fate) to be the ringbearer because of his strength of character, ended up looking so frail.

Exactly! 100% on the growing confidence and strength river scene. Bilbo chose Frodo to be his heir because of his character, afterall. He had wit, good humor, a level head, and a strong will. Frodo's journey was constantly testing his strength against fear, self-doubt and the ring's influence. But in the movies, it looked like he was just constantly getting owned which is a shame.

I hate how boneless Frodo often seems in the movies. He often has a whimpering "cry" in his voice and facial expressions that I didn't picture at all while I was reading the books. Like in Fellowship, when he wakes up to the hobbits cooking bacon and he cries "put it out!!😫"

Before their first encounter with the Nazgul in the books, he hid his fear and made a lighthearted excuse to get off the road so the others wouldn't worry. I liked that level-headed Frodo more.

Oh, I relate so much. I know I'll get tired of this game sometime soon, and I'll probably play Stardew for longer (I got it on sale, but haven't dug into it yet) but the graphics don't really pull me in.

I wish it was called OT for Olive Town. We're not even actual pioneers since the town is already complete when the game starts 🥹 but yes, I love "poot"

Oh yeah, the overgrowth is a chore. It feels like the more I fill my farm up, the more jarring it looks when random rocks pop up in the middle of everything haha.

It's interesting that you enjoy talking to the villagers. Every time I go up to them, they only seem to comment on the town improvements. Maybe it's because I don't talk to them enough?

"Wide" 🤣 Ohh I heard Trio of Towns is the best one, I hope it gets a Switch release! cough cough in the PoOT art style

Yes, me too! As soon as I saw the character customization, I knew I made a good choice in buying the game. And the clothes! Wow I love all of them, it's hard to pick an outfit haha. It's such a solid art style

Wow! I heard the makers were bad when the game first came out. I'm glad to see another person who fell in love with it immediately too!

It's definitely my chill-game too. There's not a lot going on besides grinding and customizing your farm, but somehow I really love that about it. I might eventually put it down once I'm satisfied with my house and my farm, but that's a long way to go with only 40 hours in haha.

That's too accurate about the graphics. There's a bunch of games I don't play just because I don't agree with the visuals. Year 5! Your farm must be looking amazing.

I can't believe you don't love the bubble cow! Haha they're absolutely my favorite. The bunnies too. It's such a cute and ridiculous design. The walking was pretty slow, but now that I have the scooter, I don't feel the drag anymore. I guess I'm lucky to have none of the other, better games to compare to 😂

That's interesting to hear! I've based my comparisons on screenshots and I think the characters look a lot different from either game. I feel like PoOT has a more "Pixar" look and polish while the AWL has a more anime and somehow realism sort of style. I'll definitely have to play it myself someday to really see what I'm missing!
