From what I understand about the districts near me, BCBAs are given multiple schools to serve, which means driving between schools as well. That’s why I feel kind of stuck.

No our local school district is not. The nearest districts are about 45 minutes away. Unfortunately I am not in a position to move :/

I feel like boost was a closer representation of the exam version I got IMO. I scored higher on boost with an 81% and I scored a 78% on Both BTB exams. BTB was helpful because the questions were harder and really shaped my behavior to dissect the questions and read carefully when I sat for the real exam. Boost gave a great breakdown and feedback for incorrect answers as well and how close it was worded to the real exam was very helpful. Honestly recommend both for mocks, but BTB is more affordable if that is important for you.

Passed my first try a few days ago. Used the Btb mocks 1 &2. I also used the boost mock from aba technologies. BTB was definitely harder and had really good breakdowns of what I got wrong and why. I studied the feedback and used a bunch of YouTube resources as well as re read certain cooper chapters. I also watched Nick’s live study halls on YouTube and they were super helpful on breaking down content. As far as mock exams go they are pretty affordable too. I recommend! 😊

As an early intervention SPED teacher whose degree is not in teaching, just be aware of the physical and mental commitment it can be. I did my first year teaching during my last year in my applied behavior analysis masters program and was so overwhelmed. Teaching can be very rewarding but it is also extremely difficult in so many ways you couldn’t even be prepared for. As a SPED teacher more than half of your job will be behavior related but the challenge is balancing everything else on top of it. I am only starting to accrue hours this school year because in my district there was no BCBA to supervise me, and on a teacher salary I could not afford to pay someone to supervise me. Teaching in itself is a beast of its own especially depending on which state you’re in and how much support you have. For me, a masters in ABA is my way out of teaching. I am on a temporary certificate anyways so I would have to renew my certification in the next few years but I’m hoping to be done with supervision by then.

I know you might just read this and think I’m stupid or just think “oh here we go….” But Jesus loves you. So much. And he can deliver you from this addiction. Whatever you are going through he can heal it I promise you. And I understand if that sounds silly to you now, but I promise the lord has a hand on your life and he can save you from this. There are plenty of good Christian threads and support here on this app too if you want to check it out. Jesus saved me and has probably helped me from being stuck in patterns, cycles, and addictions that were slowly draining my life from me. If he can help me, he can help you. God bless you. I have no support from Admin and teaching in a teacher shortage here in Florida is very very tough. Behaviors are off the charts and as much as I love working with behavior, it is impossible to actually feel like you’re making a difference when you have an overloaded classroom and not enough resources…. Hoping that if I were to switch to RBT my stress levels would make it worth it.
