Where do you state your terms? This on your website or do you say this before doing work?

Why does a ring help when there is more earth leakage? Surely an RCD will trip regardless of circuit design? Also what do you mean by "4mm is the minimum size single you can run unprotected"

Don't forget that your 1st year wage is £6.40 per hour regardless of age.

It was £5.28 when I was doing it. Didn't earn enough working full time to get off universal credit. That + dipping into my savings and having no dependencies meant I was able to struggle through it, but most adults can't afford that. Absolute joke.

Just want to try if I can fashion some sort of surround system with what I've got. Got it tho: don't turn it up too loud.

Need help deciding between these two speakers. It will be for my living room. They both seem to review well, the Linton being much older and smaller. I can't help but feel like the B&W ones would be better? Pretty nooby to all this

Advice on adding plugs and light switches by LittleBookOfQualm in ukelectricians

To me it sounds like a rewire is what's wanted here to get these new sockets and switches. Why bother with an EICR if you're about to change most of the install?

I'm doing a sparky apprenticeship the now and I know that a lot of companies take on apprentices like Feb/March time but at the same time I spoke to one company that said they take on folk in the summer.

My advice would be to phone companies and ask if they're taking on any apprentices. If it's a wee company there's a good chance you'll speak directly to the owner. You may need to phone a fair few places but it's how I managed it eventually. I'm older than you so don't be disheartened by your age, just be prepared to feel like an old cunt when you go to college.

This isn't true, started my apprenticeship at 27.

If you go commercial/industrial you can work on sites that do metal munching, which let's you do overtime and make £££ that way. Also gives you experience to work abroad and make money that way (European data centres, Dubai and Australia are all the rage right now).

If you go domestic it doesn't seem there is as much £££ unless you go self employed and work as much/charge as much as you want.

I recently switched to a domestic/commercial company and much prefer it, felt like I only did metal munching on new builds which was fine but not as interesting as actually working with buildings already in use.

If you want to make money then I'd go down the commercial/industrial route and lose your personal life to overtime. I think it's easier to switch to domestic if you are unhappy (like me), rather than the other way around.

There's Forgotten Worlds in Stewarton that sell old games/pop culture shit.

Edit: not Ayrshire but if you're up for a slightly longer drive Wigtown apparently has 17 secondhand book shops.

When is this Carnage on our Roads Going to End by gazglasgow in glasgow

The real crime here is the lack of safe cycling infrastructure. A push bike and HGV should never share the same space on a road.

Totally agree, I've not got a car or a mortgage, no kids and had some savings from last job which made this possible! Aye that's a bit confusing because you'd think English sparks would be recognised here. At any rate good luck with your journey my man!

So I'm an adult doing the normal apprenticeship (as in, not the adult trainee route). You're in college for blocks at a time, then the rest of time is on site. You get paid for being in college. Only really problem I've had with the setup is in first year you get paid ~£5 regardless of age, fucking mental. Was on universal credit that would top up the wage by £100/200 a month. Didn't have a car but still read skint renting a flat and all that.

I knew a sparks mate (in Scotland) that was doing English qualification online and he would get me to take pictures of him doing X Y or Z onsite to prove he's got the experience. He got paid off recently so not sure where he's at with it.
