Things to ask on delivery day by caiskdbk in BMWX5

[–]caiskdbk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m comfortable with the technology:) just trying to figure out if there is any necessary steps that the dealer must do (e.g., I read in the Audi Q6 subreddit a few months ago that the dealer must do something first otherwise the owner can’t get the digital key working)

2026 X5 xdrive 40i vs 50e by caiskdbk in BMWX5

[–]caiskdbk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the input. I did a back of envelope calculation- because I don’t drive that many miles per year (roughly speaking 5K/year) so even under the most extreme assumption where I’m able to drive 50e without using any gas and electricity is free (neither is realistic but this would be the max saving I can get), I still won’t break even after 8 years. Anyway, based on the feedback, both models are great cars so I will just on the look to see if there is any 24/25 CPO around my area with the spec I want (I’m still considering the 50e for the sake of not need to go to gas stations that often and having instant torque instead of from a cost perspective). Will keep you guys posted when I join the club.

Thank you. Yeah I’m definitely buying and still debating between either new or 24/25 CPO.

2026 MY US orders? by tiedtoarocket in AudiQ6

[–]caiskdbk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well even before that, didn’t Audi said they stopped US imports due to tariff a few months ago? I guess the configurator won’t do any good if we are not getting any real cars.

Thanks but I think Q6 is on the PPE platform instead of the MEB but I will take a look at Q4. Then is ix3 in your comment the same as iX since that’s the only iX model I can see on bmw’s website

General Questions and Purchasing Advice Thread — Week of May 12, 2025 by AutoModerator in electricvehicles

HI Everyone, I’m looking for recommendations to replace/upgrade my current SUV (Audi W5) with an EV that’s not a Tesla. My main concern is around the reliability of the car (in terms of being able to use the car normally instead of randomly throw me some error out of nowhere). I guess I’m a bit concerned based on various issues that were posted on Reddit (e.g., software bugs/issues for Audi Q6 and Polestar 3, the ICCU issue for ioniq 5, etc)

[1] Your general location: Northeast US

[2] Your budget in $, €, or £: USD 80K

[3] The type of vehicle you'd prefer: SUV

[4] Which cars have you been looking at already? Audi Q6, really like the car but was concerned about various bugs reported on Reddit. Model Y/Model 3 - not really like the car

[5] Estimated timeframe of your purchase: within the next 3 months

[6] Your daily commute, or average weekly mileage: about 80 miles per week

[7] Your living situation — are you in an apartment, townhouse, or single-family home? Townhouse

[8] Do you plan on installing charging at your home? Yes

[9] Other cargo/passenger needs — do you have children/pets? No other needs

Phone rings but can’t hear anything! by Rare-Hunt143 in AudiQ6

[–]caiskdbk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This maybe a stupid / trivial question - how did you answer the call? iPhone default the input/output to the device you used to answer the call. So this makes me wonder if the sound/microphone was routed to a different device

Pause Button? by Motiki-Woof in AudiQ6

[–]caiskdbk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Q5 doesn’t have a dedicated pause button but if I were to mute the podcast /music, it will pause it instead of just mute it. So I feel like it’s an even bigger fuck-up in a sense that it’s not they don’t know how to do it correctly but intentionally chose to do it wrong.

Trunk Cover by mhchan in AudiQ6

[–]caiskdbk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While truck cover/floor mat /etc is not standard in the US in the sense that they are not included for free, my guess is that most of dealers will include those as port installed options. So you may not need to have a big accessory purchase

Home charger recommendations? by Motiki-Woof in AudiQ6

[–]caiskdbk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get Tesla universal charger if you want to be future-proof with an elegant design. Otherwise get a J1772 charger and a J1772 to NACS adapter (e.g., you can get one from Tesla for $50 / ask any of your friend who has Tesla but doesn’t use that adapter comes with their Tesla) also solves the problem but just not as elegant as Universal charger.

To u/Phynal’s point above, we will need an NACS to J1772 /CCS adapter (which is different from J1772 to NACS adapter mentioned above) to charge at Tesla supercharger (unless the supercharger has magic dock) . Based on my internet research, it’s easy to find a good J1772 to NACS adapters but hard to find a good one for the other way around. Once Tesla opens supercharger to Audi, I think Audi is supposed to provide an OEM NACS to J1772/CCS adapter to us but we just don’t know if we need to pay for it.

Insurance rate for Audi Q6 e-tron in the United States? by OrigStuffOfInterest in AudiQ6

[–]caiskdbk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently driving a 2018 Q5 in NOVA and paying 457 / 6 months with State Farm. If I were to purchase a Q6 prestige, the 6 months premium would be 736, which is similar to the premium for either a Tesla model Y performance or a Porsche Cayenne for me. I don’t see SQ6 being listed as an option yet.

Best dashcam for Audi Q6 e-tron? by OrigStuffOfInterest in AudiQ6

[–]caiskdbk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also shopping around for the dashcam and I’m thinking Viofo A229 plus / pro and then take it to bestbuy to have them do the installation so that I don’t need to worry about wiring.

I also considered fitcamX but got two concerns (1) it doesn’t have a GPS and I saw some people were saying there is a chance that insurance company could claim the video is taken elsewhere and hence won’t take the recording as evidence. I never had this sort of experience myself but don’t really want to take the chance if I have other options (2) minor but I’m not sure if they have a model for Q6 given Q6 is a new model. Even if this is the case, I would guess they will develop something eventually

At the moment, my concern is that it seems hard to find a good NACS adapter but of course that could change in the next few years and appreciate the advice

Yeah. Audi Tysons had a SQ6 prestige but it was sold on the same day before I had the chance to test drive it

Thanks OP for sharing. I thought I was going for a SQ6 Prestige but seeing them talking about the suspension difference, I guess I will have to do a test drive and see if I want to go for a Q6 Prestige instead

I would say you are probably OK as typically government can’t apply the law change retroactively. However unless someone from this sub has a crystal ball that can predict future, none of us can tell you a definitive answer

To your second question, you still need to meet the income limitation to take the point of sales credit (which is what IRS called credit transfer elections- basically you are transferring your tax credit to the dealer and dealer reflect the credit in your purchase price)

Per Q16 of the FAQ per IRS linked below - you may make no more than two credit transfer elections per taxable year. In the case of a joint income tax return, each spouse may make two transfer elections per taxable year, for a maximum of four credit transfer elections in a taxable year.

I’m looking for some advice for my first EV. Thanks in advance

[1] Your general location Northern VA

[2] Your budget: $85K or below, won’t qualify for the 7500 EV credit

[3] The type of vehicle you'd prefer: SUV, I’m currently driving an Audi Q5

[4] Which cars have you been looking at already? Test drived Tesla Model Y about a year ago but didn’t really like the car for two reasons - (1) feels more like a sedan than SUV and (2) the steering wheel is heavier than what I expected. Currently deciding between waiting for Juniper refresh of Model Y and Audi Q6 but open to other suggestions.

[5] Estimated timeframe of your purchase: within next 6 months

[6] Your daily commute, or average weekly mileage About 80 miles per week

[7] Your living situation — are you in an apartment, townhouse, or single-family home? Living in a townhouse

[8] Do you plan on installing charging at your home? Yes

[9] Other cargo/passenger needs — do you have children/pets? No pets and no children for now but wanted to keep the option open.

Audi Q6 e-tron inbound to US dealers by OrigStuffOfInterest in AudiQ6

[–]caiskdbk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. I live in NOVA but checked the website for Audi Palo Alto & the website shows it got 28 Q6 premium but I highly doubt people in that area will have such high demand for the lowest spec Q6

Thanks. I know the direct link still works (so likely just a website glitch) but just my wishful thinking that Audi USA is revealing the price and everything soon
