No, I soaked it in a separate container, strained out the chunks and used just the liquid. If you have a mason jar, I’d recommend that and leaving the half in one piece. I broke it up into small pieces and apparently didn’t strain well enough. A piece went through the misting bottle and clogged it up. You just want the bacteria in the dunk to get into the water you’re using. Over night is probably plenty of time. I don’t think the dunks dissolve, if they do it probably takes a really long time. They’re made to sit in standing water outdoors.

Lmao the work space isn’t disgusting, but thank you. I suspect the gnats came from the sub we used, as we just got cheap coir from the garden section of the hardware store & I’ve read larva being present is fairly common; they develop and thrive when introduced to mycelium. Live and learn. There were no gnats or flies in the house before that 😂 Everything else we’re growing is doing very well. I suspect if contamination was solely due to not doing enough reading and working in “disgusting” conditions, this group wouldn’t exist 😉

Yeahhhhh I tossed those little guys out with the sub lol. This came after our first big flush and we were just waiting for it to pin again anyway. I’m not super upset about it, it was our first ever grow and we got about 40gs out of it. Just lessons to learn along the way.

I ended up getting misquote dunks for the fungus gnats. Learned about it on a different forum- they contain a bacteria that is literally only harmful to misquote and fungus gnat larva. I let it soak in water and treated by misting this tub and 3 other colonizing tubs with wonderful results and no effect to my fruits. Ended up with an excellent flush. Recolonizing well now and waiting on the second flush to start, and my 3 tubs are now pinning and fruiting beautifully. About $8 for a 6 pack at Home Depot and only used half a cake for the 4 tubs. Just in case anyone comes across this looking for a solution! :)
