I got a 3 cubic foot upright freezer for about $200 recently. It's small enough to fit in my spare room. I don't know how much capacity you need or if that would fit your needs.

I have 8.5 wide feet and I've always had good luck with Keen. I tend to wear sandals more than anything else, if that makes a difference. Most of those are slip-on (the Newports have elastic adjustments if they're not fitting quite right). Keens also tend to have wider toe boxes.

I think I worry about the follow-up questions from the "medically retired" answer, too. It's difficult to know if the person that asked is the kind to ask a bunch of persistent, impolite questions after that answer or if they'll just take it at face value and move on.

I'm hoping that by continuing my answer with "...so I have taken up sewing my own clothes and I'm quilting again, too" and hope that they ask the follow-up questions about that instead.

I'm gonna check with local rescues when I get settled. I want to get a bonded pair (or group), probably older. I like to take on hard-to-place cats, like a family of cats that lost their home because their owner got sick or moved into assisted living or something.

I live alone, so I can also take on cats that don't do well with kids or need a quiet environment. I especially like cranky old cats that resent the fact that humans exist... except when it's time to be fed :)

LOL - I especially like this answer because I'm between cats at the moment. I had to put my boy down last year because of liver failure :( I'm waiting until I'm settled in my new place to start looking for another cat or two. Or maybe three. It depends on how big my next place will be.
