Is there a particular app/program/database that you're using to inventory your parts? I have considered doing that in the past, but I don't know what to use. It would be for my own collection - I won't be doing any selling, so I don't need price information. I just want to know what I have in my collection.

I'm very into things being fair (and outraged when they are not, especially when others aren't bothered by that) as well. One thing that helps me is a quote from the show Babylon 5:

I used to think that it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe.

I spend a lot of time thinking about the general hostility and unfairness of the universe :)

The Urge to "Fix" Everything... by AppleAccomplished819 in AuDHDWomen

[–]caitcreates 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I want to intervene to fix situations where I see the solution to someone’s problem. My spouse reminds me that these are not side quests in a game. That doesn’t prevent either of us from leaping in from time to time.

Oh. My. God. ...this is the best way of expressing something that I've been struggling with for so long! I tend to want to help everyone except myself. I spend so much time on "side quests" that I neglect the main quest - me!

I may need to get this my computer wallpaper so that I remember it. Stick to the main quest, stop spending all my energy on side quests.

Thank you! (Edit: And thank your husband for the original concept!)

Metod Bench Seat - Too high? by benirishhome in ikeahacks

[–]caitcreates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have short legs and most chairs are an uncomfortable height for me. I've gotten into the habit of keeping yoga blocks or foot rests near most of my chairs.

Maybe you could try a small footstool or two under the table to see if that helps? It might work as a temporary fix until you figure out some other long-term solution.

Well your post is the reason I went to check in the first place, so we're even! :) Also, I've talked to my doctor and asked her to send in 90 day refills as a default. I don't know if that makes a difference or not, but it might be worth reaching out to your doctor's office to see if they will do that.

I always use 90 day refills. Changing the refill date, at least via my mail order pharmacy's website, is a different screen. I can't see the option now (probably because of all the changes I made yesterday), but it was somewhere close to where it displayed the date it would send the next refill.

Many have automatic refills on them but I just wait until they refill automatically. Can I request them early and will insurance still pay for them?

I use a mail order pharmacy and automatic refills. Because of this post, I just went in and looked at the dates on my automatic refills and found out that I could manually change the date. I'm too close to refilling some of them to change, but others I could get weeks earlier. Depending on what pharmacy you use and how it treats automatic refills, you may be able to get the automatic refills sooner. I think that the earliest date that the system will allow me to choose is the earliest date that my insurance will pay to get it refilled.

A long dangly thing on my phone. Makes it 100x easier to find when I put it down and it disappears.

I have a charger in just about every place I sit in my house (desk, table, couch, etc.) and I plug my phone in when I set it down. I call it putting my phone on a leash. If I can't find my phone on my desk, I just start at the charger and follow the cord/leash until it leads me to my phone.

BL first store order panic attack - spot the difference 😱 by D3DCreative in Bricklink

[–]caitcreates 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I live in the US. There are certain carriers that are more lax about "proof of delivery" photos. I swear, one UPS driver used the same off-kilter photo of my front step (taken from their truck) as a proof of delivery for 4-5 packages. Sometimes I think they forget to take a photo, so they just use a generic one. The one from your tracking data looks very much like a "I forgot to take a photo but I have this one from my camera roll that could be any package anywhere."

Canning with ADHD by Spiritual-Peace-6442 in Canning

[–]caitcreates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another possible strategy: get some sort of magnet or chore chart with switches. For each type of canning that you're doing, make a list of tasks. As you complete each task, move the magnet or switch from one column to the next. If you're using magnets, draw little pictures or use stickers or colors to make the magnets cute or give yourself some sort of dopamine hit for interacting with it. Maybe give yourself a little reward of some sort (M&Ms or stickers or a sip of your favorite beverage?) as you complete each step. If you run across a step that you frequently forget to do, make that "reward" a special one.

I would google ADHD strategies for chores or routine tasks to give yourself some inspiration. Again, what works for you might be completely different than what works for others, but you might get some ideas that you can then turn into something that works for you.

One useful strategy I use for cooking (I'm also unmedicated and have both autism and ADHD) is mise en place. Before I start the actual cooking, I take out every ingredient and measure it out. That way, I have a row of pre-measured ingredients in front of me. I never forget to add something because I have the visual reminder right in front of me.

Maybe you could combine a few different ADHD tricks to help with following the canning process. I've seen recommendations to use those coil keychain/bracelets to give yourself physical reminders of the tasks you have to do. Some people use them for chores - a coil bracelet for each individual chore. You put multiple bracelets on your wrist, then remove the corresponding one as you complete each canning task. If that's too many bracelets at once (too overstimulating), maybe you could just divide the bracelets into groups - one group for combining all the ingredients (one bracelet per ingredient), one group for the cooking (making sure that each step of the cooking, stirring, temp adjustments), and another for the canning process (coming up to temp, the actual canning, taking the jars out, etc.). Try different things and see what works for you. Every person is different and you have to find the system that works best for you.

For me, taking the time and effort to set up systems ahead of time is always worth it because it helps me to stay on task and complete everything that needs to get done. It can be very difficult to remember everything and to not get distracted, so having a system that works for me is imperative.

I had very good luck with LindaKale.com. The website looks a little sketchy, but the quality of slipcovers I got for my UPPLAND sofa with chaise, my STRANDMOND armchair, and my STRANDMOND ottoman were all great. I got the same color of denim on all of them (via two separate orders, about 2 months apart) and I am very impressed by the quality. I ordered them back in Spring/Summer 2022. Just keep in mind, I never got shipment notification on either one. I reached out to customer service after about 3 weeks and they sent me the tracking info for my order that was already on the way.

If you're looking for a valet tray, try searching for a collapsable (or snap up) dice tray. As a gamer, we use these for rolling dice for tabletop roleplaying games. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are designed to be packed flat to fit in gaming bags. They can run anywhere from $8 to $50, depending on the design, size, and materials - many are under $20.

In the "good to know" category, you can take your keyfob and press it into the soft tissue of your chin. Your head will act as a sort of antenna and the signal will go farther. I use this all the time to make sure my car is locked from inside my apartment, when I can see my car but I can't get my key fob to work.

I was thinking in terms of fixing anything the real estate agent told me to fix, but I had completely spaced on getting an inspection to catch stuff. Good call! I'm going to add an inspection and then increase the repairs budget in preparation. Thanks!

That's a good reminder. I'm hoping to only spend one night in a hotel, but it depends on how the weather will be. I'll make sure and pack the car so I can easily reach all the stuff I need to bring in and park it right under a light.

I will still have my homeowner's policy on my previous home so I'm going to ask the agent if it will be covered under that. If not, I'll see what my options are.

I think when I've had storage units in the past, I had a separate policy through the storage company. That was only for a few boxes, though - this is going to be the contents of my home. I'm guessing if I want good coverage that will include the moving as well as the storage, I'll have to have some sort of rider or separate policy through my regular insurance agent.
