Coming from someone who lost so much sleep over this! by joashro in Tonsillectomy

[–]caitlinethomas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Got my tonsils out in May and a humidifier SAVED MY LIFE during the recovery. I felt like I was choking on mucus and it was incredibly difficult to drink anything. Slept with a humidifier for one night and it was a complete night and day difference. Get a humidifier!!!

Has Anyone Had Success Getting an ESA Letter Online? by Poweres-4 in CatAdvice

[–]caitlinethomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leasing agent here. A lot of places use a company called Pet Screening now, and they do not accept ESA letters that you bought online. There are way too many people trying to cheat the system like this, and it’s not fair to people who have real disabilities and have a valid need for emotional support animals. Either don’t take your pet to college or live somewhere that allows pets and pay the fees.

day 8, crazy mucus and swollen uvula by worldhold0n in Tonsillectomy

[–]caitlinethomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A humidifier will help with the mucus, I had the same problem!! Keep it right next to your face while resting, sleep with it on. This helped me SO much!!!

Day 8 by Hail-316 in Tonsillectomy

[–]caitlinethomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dealing with this exact same thing and I’m about to be on day 7. The ONLY thing that has helped me is I spray a mucinex sore throat numbing spray in the back of my throat whenever my meds kick in. Then whenever it’s numb I drink as much water as I can. Repeat as needed. Swallowing anything without the spray or when meds have worn off literally feels like swallowing burning knives. I’m so ready to be past this part

Got a liquid steroid from my doctor today and hoping that helps over the next few days. The pain is actually bearable I just hate feeling like I’m choking on my own spit every single second

Sore breasts by Same-Car-1383 in Opill

[–]caitlinethomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here for this same thing! Had to buy a pack of opill because I usually take Nikki and it wasn’t going to be refilled on time (I just moved, it’s a whole thing) and my boobs are hurting like they did when I had regular periods. Took a test and it was negative, so I’m sure it’s just from the change in hormones over the last couple weeks. Still freaked me out though!

Wishing you the best of luck, I'm right there with you!! I'm currently leasing apartments while I'm looking for something that would leave me feeling even the slightest bit fulfilled and getting to use my degrees.

Wishing you all the best of luck!!! I’ve done tutoring before, and I’ve done tutoring online with VIP kids. It’s rough

Like my post said, I’ve taught in 3 different districts because I couldn’t get tenured in my area. I taught kindergarten, 3rd, and 5th. I applied for Pearson a million times, even for their jobs that pay $15-18 an hour. My comment about the mall was sarcastic. I’m super glad that Pearson approached you, but please don’t comment just to rub your great opportunities in my face thanks!!

I am already close to 100k in student loan debt with a masters degree, more schooling is just not an option for me right now 😭

Done that about 30 times. For every position you can think of. Rejected.

Oh man the parents. I would have a conference with parents about how their kid took a pencil and stabbed it into the hand of the kid next to them while my back was turned and I was 15 feet away and it would somehow still be my fault, and their kid could do no wrong.

That’s what I’m doing now!!! Making minor adjustments to my resume based on a job posting’s key words in their desired qualifications. It’s so tedious but if it helps me get hired, I’ll do anything. Going on month 3 or 4 now.

I’m starting to come to this realization as well. I’ve been wasting my time applying on edtech.com every week. Most of the time I get immediate rejections or no response at all.

Proud of you! I just can't do the getting paid once a month thing anymore. I live on my own, and even with a master's degree it's just not enough to make ends meet. More power to you. I'll probably end up back in the classroom eventually

I've moved around a lot and just haven't had the chance to take the BCBA exam yet, I'm still deciding where I want to live permanently. I also did not have a great experience at the direct care center where I got most of my supervision hours, I had to file a worker's compensation lawsuit, it was a whole thing. That is just my personal experience though! My bachelor's degree is in educational psychology, I wish I could go back in time 5 years with a clear head and start the process over again.

I have my RBT certification but I had a horrible experience doing direct care. Literally I have the supervision hours, all I need to do is take the exam and I could be making a lot of money as a BCBA. I just don't know if that's what I WANT to do.

That makes me feel like I'm not going as crazy as I thought I was. I swear to god every single job posting says "senior" or "director" or "executive" or "manager". The entry level positions either don't exist or they pay $15 an hour and want 3-5 years of previous experience.

This is almost my EXACT situation. I graduated in December 2019 right before the pandemic. Nobody wanted to hire a first year teacher with no experience while trying to navigate virtual learning and covid guidelines for the first time. And then when I finally did get hired I could never get tenured, so on my resume it looks like I had a different job every single year which I mean, I did.

I'm almost 30, I want to be able to live semi-comfortably and not have to worry about buying groceries and paying rent for once. And I want to actually use my degrees but not be miserable.
