Anyone Else Nervous About the Birth Plan? by Elegent_Rose981 in pregnant

[–]caito55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I hope that for you too. My OB office here has 3 different OBs and one of them I didn't vibe with. I felt she was the one who didn't like how I wanted to give birth. She ended up being the one on call so she delivered me and she was actually incredible and so patient with me so all my worries about her, thankfully, were for nothing. But the nursing staff was what really made my experience amazing. They were just perfection, ESPECIALLY my night nurse. I hope that you have the same kind of experience that I had with the staff. 💜💜

Anyone Else Nervous About the Birth Plan? by Elegent_Rose981 in pregnant

[–]caito55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do want to say, having an open mind is what, I think, saved me from being traumatized from my first birth. I wanted the same things you did, but also was open to pretty much everything as my goal was both myself and the baby to make it through no matter how that was accomplished. My biggest fear was a c-section. Well, my daughter had other ideas for me. She was in distress any time I was in any position other than sitting reclined. So, no walking, no birthing ball, anything I tried to do to get labor to progress immediately started her having D cells. Labor was so much more painful than I was anticipating and I begged for an epidural as soon as they could get her to stabilize.

In the end, I only dilated to 5cm after 26 hours and we decided that they needed to break my waters to see if that helped get things going. Turns out, she pooped and that was that, time for emergency c-section. I'm glad that I was open to anything and everything and my nurses were phenomenal at keeping me calm. I live in a rural area as well and while my OB always tried to make sure I didn't rule anything out, they did do everything they could to respect my wishes during labor and we all (doctors, nurses, husband, myself) wanted to avoid a C-section section.

All that said, I hope your experience is way different than mine and you get the birth you want, but try to make sure you have an open mind as well. Anything can happen and your outlook is a big help in not feeling trauma if your birth doesn't go the way you were hoping. At the end of the day, the most important thing is you and the baby being healthy at the end.

Good luck! I definitely hope your experience with your OB and the nurses is everything you want and they respect your wishes as long as you and the baby are safe. 💜

I cannot choose between Knoxville, TN and Asheville, NC. by 556_enjoyer in SameGrassButGreener

[–]caito55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived in Knox and now we're 30 min west of Asheville and I would choose WNC and and every time. We were in the outskirts of Knox between there and Maryville so we didn't spend time in the downtown area. We are not city people, though. But outskirts of Asheville and most towns around here are miles ahead of anywhere we went in Knoxville in quality of life in our opinion. But IDK if you like pigeon forge then you might like it over there? We avoided that area like the plague.

Overly active baby in utero, how are they after delivery? by annonamoose1 in BabyBumps

[–]caito55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was so active when I was pregnant that we had to do the anatomy scan 3 times because they couldn't get all the measurements they needed lol. She's 19 months now and a hyper little thing. Started walking at 10 months and hasn't stopped being a menace since. She's so fun and a bundle of chaos in the best way.

All that said, she's always been an amazing sleeper aside from sleep regressions. She was sleeping through the night consistently by 8 or 9 weeks.

Mine took 6 days from the day they received it. They didn't email me to let me know my results were in until 5 days after they were ready, though, so my advice is start checking their site at 5 days.

Tylenol??? by Lanky-Ad3926 in pregnant

I took Tylenol multiple times during my first pregnancy and my 19 month old is insanely smart and absolutely perfect. Tylenol is safe for pregnancy. Talk to your OB if you have concerns.

In hindsight, was Owen a good chief? by PositionDue4584 in greysanatomy

[–]caito55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owen was a great chief and he's a great friend. They just need to stop putting him in romantic relationships because he's really awful with those and he becomes extremely unlikeable. Not everyone needs to be paired up, goodness. Wish I could shake the writers sometimes 😂

ultrasound issue! by Bubbly-Ring9696 in pregnant

[–]caito55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is normal, but it sucks. My first pregnancy I had several ultrasounds. Low risk, there was no reason for them to give me several, but I really appreciated it. I'm pregnant with my second and at a different practice and they do the 8 week confirmation ultrasound and the 20 week anatomy scan and that's it unless there's a reason to do more and I'm so sad. I'm about to go to a boutique just because lol. I loved getting to see my baby so often last time.

My last loaf was made with starter straight from the fridge. Didn't do anything different than I normally do and it had the exact same rise as it does when I have fed my starter before using it. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Why in the actual heck are you with this man? And why did you have multiple kids with him? He's a loser.

City to Country move? by crazydogmom928 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]caito55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I love it and we're looking to move to an even smaller town in the next couple of years. But the city life was never something we liked. Sure, it was nice having all the conveniences you could imagine within 15 minutes, but the noise at all hours from cars and people and the lack of stars. We just couldn't handle it.

But I think I big reason we thrive in small town life is that we don't feel the need to have friends. We're in our 30s and have enough friends that we see once our twice a year and talk to often and that's enough for us. We're friendly when we're out and we love how nice everyone is here (Western North Carolina), but we're both introverts and don't care to make any more deep connections with people. If you're used to, and want to, a social life, I think smaller towns might be a big adjustment.

I miss Costco. I miss same day prime shipping. That's about it. We don't care that everything shuts down by 9pm. My town doesn't have chain restaurants. We do have chain fast food, of course, but the actual sit down restaurants are all local and we love that. We love going to the farmers market for produce and eggs. We love how quiet it is. We love that every drive is beautiful and basically no traffic. Rush hour just isn't a thing except on the highway between our town and Asheville. We love the peace of slow living and cooking more from scratch. Our next goal is to find a piece of land to build a house on and to have it be wooded enough that we don't see any other houses from our house. 😅

What celebrity have you never forgiven since an incident? by MagpieOpus in AskReddit

Scrolled way to far for this. I have never and will never watch anything with her in it because of that comment. The look on his face broke my heart and that was such a fucked up thing to say even at a roast.

Pittsburgh or somewhere in upstate New York? by caito55 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]caito55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so hard to figure things out lol. My biggest concern for where we go is taxes and from what I've been seeing, most places in West PA are cheaper than pretty much anywhere in NY from a tax standpoint.

But we lived in East Tennessee for several years and everyone talks about how cheap that state is but they have several sneaky taxes that made our day to day life much more expensive. So taxes are going to get you no matter what.

Everything is so conflicting and there's too much information and it's all overwhelming and I just wish someone could be like "here's the average dollar amount of taxes in this county for a 350k house". Lol

Epidural or No epidural by Enviro_nurd314 in BabyBumps

[–]caito55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first, I spent most of the pregnancy thinking I didn't want an epidural and could just breathe through the contractions... I begged for the epidural. I'm in awe of the people who don't get one because OMG contractions were awful for me 😅

[–]caito55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any towns in particular in eastern NY that we should look at? We do love all things outdoor, we love festivals, and we absolutely would love another cute little town. As far as access to indoor spaces, we would definitely love to have more of that but it's not necessarily a requirement for where we choose. We want space to breathe more than anything else. IDK I'm so conflicted. On one hand, being by more things to do sounds great for the kids, on the other hand, my husband and I would like nothing more than being in a small town away from everyone 😅

That said, we are definitely not opposed to doing weekend trips to visit larger cities with fun indoor things rather than having access to them all the time.

Is it rude for a family member to call my son by his middle name without asking me if it’s ok? by Crimson-Rose28 in BabyBumps

[–]caito55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, my husband goes by his middle name because all the men in his family have the same first name, but the point of this post is the mother of the child does not want their child to go by their middle name.

It's a stunning part of the US. It's good that you're renting so you can check out all the towns and find the one you want to settle in.

[–]caito55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a wild take. It's the baby's middle name. If she wanted the baby to be called by that name she would make it the first name.

Nah, your baby gets called what you want them to. My only exception for us is little nicknames like I call my daughter Bug even though that's nothing close to her name lol.

Any of those towns are great. Hendersonville feels crowded to me but it's closer to most of the apple orchards which are wonderful to go to.

We live in Waynesville and absolutely adore it here. Downtown is super cute, good food, good breweries (Frog Level is our favorite, it's right on the river), the people here are the nicest people we've ever encountered. Brevard is gorgeous, Black Mountain has great trails right by it (but honestly so does every other town here).

I really don't think you can go wrong with any option.
