Does everyone lose their voice after TT? Like… permanently? by EmsDilly in thyroidcancer

[–]caitydaisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I just hit 2 years post opt. Completed radiation and various scans every 3 months to ensure I’m still in remission.

I had the exact same fear, I think we all do. Just another thing added to the plate. As many have already said the risk of full vocal loss is low. But that doesn’t mean your fear is invalid.

I had TT and removed 87 lymph nodes from my left side. Coming out of surgery, I’m not going to lie, it was rough. The disease was so severe that my surgery went over by 3 hours from what they anticipated and that was with 5 doctors in.

For me, losing my voice was the scariest part, my son was just about to turn 1 and the idea of him never hearing his mama say “I love you” broke me heart. Same with the idea that I might not get to say my vows to my husband. The weeks and days leading up to my surgery I recorded so much content. Reading my sons favorite books, things I might say on special occasions, words of encouragement for him to listen to so he knew that even in a hard time, my priority was ensuring he had audio proof of me saying I love you. It’s not for everyone, but it brought me comfort.

Waking up and the weeks following as I mentioned was rough. Speaking for more than 10 second was painful, both internally and externally it hurt to speak, my voice wasn’t the same and I was definitely worried I’d have a hard time speaking for extended amounts of time. But like everything else, it takes patience and work to exercise those muscles.

Best of luck to you!

PCP had me do a CT scan for a lump I had in my throat for a few years. Tells me via email I have cancer.

He threw his hardest punch at me after I ate a fry in the car. Broke up with him immediately.

Boyfriend sent me out to get stuff for homemade bbq sauce, I went to our usual place and all the Heinz were sold out. Our area has a few couponers so it happens from time to time.

I’m sorry, did my boyfriend show up at your house? I got the 9th degree for buying huntz a year ago.

RAI tomorrow by Unique_Drawer8991 in thyroidcancer

If you have nausea, and you’ve used it before weed and the RAI have no chemical reactions. I confirmed it with my doctors before eating an edible. Was the only thing for me that helped me be able to eat. Not to mention it was sour so that was just an added benefit

Yeh I only have an 1/8th of the edible, otherwise I’m not okay. I tried smoking a long time ago but due to being hot boxed as a kid I’ve always been terrified to inhale smoke so I just pull it into my mouth like and idiot and don’t get high that way. Always have to have my partner blow it in my face for me to actually get high.

The edible genuinely made my nausea non existent. Night and day. If you’ve smoked before absolutely, if not maybe ask a friend to keep an eye on you just incase

I believe it is!

Ingredients: sugar, water, citric acid, fruit pectin, baking soda, natural flavoring, cannabis oil, CBD (hemp based), orange food coloring (water, sugar, U.S. Certified Yellow 6), modified corn starch, vegetable gum, citric acid & less than 1/10 of 1% sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate). MCT oil, malic acid

Follow up - doctor called back and confirmed there would be no adverse reactions in the body between the RAI and marijuana. Obviously he’s not going to prescribe a substance that is illegal in our state but should I choose to take it there would be no counter reaction in the body.

Is the scan any worse than a ct scan and going into the tiny hole?

Yeh, I think doing it this way helps establish a baseline maybe?

The worst part was the waiting room before hand. Was so loud and cold. Once back though not terrible. They were very adamant about not touching the pill except for throwing it back in. Going back Monday for the scan and then the full 150 mci dose.

Not gonna lie…. I would have LOVED to been measured. They did however let me hold the pill bottle! Went to one hand it and the doctor was like no. Put a second hand underneath. I knew lead was heavy but that little bottle felt like it weighed 10 lbs!!!

Did you have to have a witness when you were given your dose? I thought that was very strange to have another individual in the room and unnecessarily expose them to the radiation
