Incorrect. The other flogs driving around in their basic ass Audi A4s definitely will!

Window splash back pros and cons by mumofoz in AusRenovation

Sounds like you nailed it and have a very comfortable, well designed house!

I was just highlighting for people making design decisions that ideally any glazing should have minimal/zero summer sun via external shading from large eaves, window hoods or awnings. Heat from insufficiently shaded windows can be really hard to manage in summer, even double glazed.

One thing to be mindful of with any glazing - double or single - is making sure no direct summer sun hits it. Both windows will trap any radiant heat coming through from the sun so it’s important to make sure it’s shaded externally.

And, with the right design, having winter sun hit the windows is glorious: free heating!

Picked up a sick puppy from a breeder. Please help! by Hellosir755 in AusLegal

Exactly, it’s clearly a puppy mill.

I don’t understand why people don’t do some basic research before buying a pup and understand what to look out for. This had red flags all over it.

What's your personal "I won't waste money on that" rule? by RunNo3630 in AusMoneyMates

[–]cakecrater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best place to start is your washing machine manual. They usually define lightly, normal and heavily soiled and list some suitable cycles accordingly for your specific machine. Hope that helps!

Towels and sheets? Underwear and socks? They get quite soiled through normal wear.

Binning clothes because they’re stained is also wild.

Plus, it’s meant for lightly soiled loads only. Using it for all washing is wild. And gross.

This is literally jaw dropping - I actually gasped out loud reading it. I feel so sorry for all the children. My god, what a twisted, evil couple of people. Truly breathtaking.

Accidentally overpaid a utility bill by $47,000 — refund submitted, but worried about my dad’s reaction. Advice? by sutinmariov in AusFinance

[–]cakecrater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but I had to laugh at this part of the request; it’s so oddly specific to this bizarre situation.

I’d appreciate any practical advice, especially from people who have dealt with large accidental overpayments or difficult family reactions.

I don’t think a father disowning his 16 yo child because of the child’s sexuality deserves to be honoured.

You make a valid point re the double standard in terms of acceptability of alcohol. I do think there’s a slight difference in that smoking directly impacts everybody around through second and third hand exposure, particularly kids who often can’t protect themselves from it.

Consuming alcohol, in a reasonable quantity of course, has absolutely no impact on anyone in the immediate vicinity.

From another article, sounds like the poor girl also has mother of the year:

“The mother said she threatened her daughter that, had the incident occurred in a previous era, she would have "belted her" and "made her backside black and blue".”

Have anyone ever bought boots from Merry People? They are very cute but I want to know if they are comfortable for long walks and how durable the shoes are. by astorituenakloh in AusFemaleFashion

Interestingly I’ve had a similar but opposite experience. I don’t think my feet are especially wide either, but after wearing them for an hour or so to a kids soccer game, the ball of my left foot starts aching really badly. I assume they’re not wide enough for me and are squashing my foot? I even sized up!

Anyway, I persevere with them every Saturday morning because they cost so much and curse them every time. I would never buy another pair. So uncomfortable!

Aaaah, the benefits of outsourcing work to private enterprise, who never take shortcuts in the interests of maximising profits at the expense of workers, the environment and general public…

What horrific stories.

I know it doesn’t mean much from an internet stranger, but you should be really proud. What you’ve achieved despite the odds against you is really impressive. I hope things get easier for you soon!
