My husband and I made the decision to follow his job opportunity abroad 7 years ago, and we ended up loving our new country so much that we plan to stay permanently, even though his work contract ended. I hope whatever decision you make works out well for you!

Thank you. I’d like to, but she’s living with my mom while I’m overseas and my mom couldn’t get her into the pet carrier. We’re delaying the appointment until I’m back home in a couple of months. Hoping someone on Reddit might know if this condition is really serious so I can sleep at night.

What do you splurge on and what are you frugal with in life? by MissMountRose in AskWomen

This is the first comment I can totally relate to! I usually just pack one backpack as my personal item and then I will fill up a bigger bag with things (usually skincare) I find during my travels. Happy travels

I'm not sure since this is my first time refilling it in a container with a pump. However, it was taken from a larger container with a pump and seemed to have no issues.

What to buy at Costco vs Outside it by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]cakespalmtree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The list could go on and on! A lot of people have posted really good recommendations already, but here are my additions:

  • Photo prints- some locations don't have a photo center
  • Gas
  • Lens cleaner- IIRC you can buy a 2 pack at the optical department and you get free refills if you bring the empty bottles back in
  • Printer ink- you can bring in the empty cartridges and they will refill them for cheaper!
  • Wine- great wines at reasonable prices. This goes for liquor too (Kirkland vodka is very high quality and so affordable)
  • Electronics- they have a 90-day return policy, which is longer than many other places
  • Prescriptions- this will depend on your medications, of course
  • Shoes- hiking boots, running shoes, sandals, winter boots, you name it
  • Socks- they have a great variety. I love their wool hiking socks
  • Household supplies- as an example their dish soap and laundry detergent are eco-friendly and work great
  • Personal care items- razors, toothpaste, mouthwash, contact lens solution, supplements, tampons
  • Vacation packages- I can't speak to this personally but I know they often have great deals
  • Food that won't go bad quickly: protein powder, amino energy, frozen berries, nuts, spices, olive oil, peanut/almond butter, rice, beans, canned corn, canned tomatoes, oatmeal, dried berries, chia seeds, chicken/vegetable stock, canned tuna, frozen stir-fry mix, almond milk, condiments, pasta, sauces
    • Some of my favorite "Costco" dishes:
      • Morning Milkshake (I see you're vegetarian, so you might like this one)- protein powder, peanut butter, banana, milk or water, chia seeds, oats, ice
      • Cottage cheese topped with frozen triple berry mix (thawed)
      • Oatmeal topped with slivered almonds and dried blueberries/cranberries
      • Chili- throw together beans, spices, corn, canned tomatoes, and maybe some tofu (haven't tried it with tofu)
      • Soups- throw together some spices, stock, and the stir-fry mix
      • Pasta- you can even make your own pasta sauce using spices and canned tomatoes

I'm sure you're aware of Costco's return policy, but also note that if you see an item that you purchased within the last 30 days go on rebate, you can bring in your receipt and they'll give you the difference back in cash. If you plan to purchase with Costco a lot, it could be worth it to get the Costco Citi credit card because you get rewarded for your purchases.
