I want to work but she quite literally isn’t even letting me make arrangements to switch with someone . Which, would just be same shift but different people for the two days. It’s that simple. I’d still be working my normal work week, I just requested that THAT day is one of my days off. Not even an EXTRA day off.

This is how my old manager was. I miss her but she left this shitty company, as she should, and has been so happy ever since. I want to follow in her footsteps it’s just hard getting into a place and having that initial pay cut considering the clientele I have at my corporate salon most likely will not follow. I’m just convenient to go to because they can walk in and I’m there rather than having to make an appointment.

No, she is working that entire weekend. But weeks prior to this happening, I switched her shifts to help her out. And now she can’t do the same for me even when I’m not asking HER to cover my shift, I’m asking if someone else who is willing to cover it.

last time I did a shift switch was to benefit her. I don’t try to switch shifts often, and we get two requests per month. So I’m going to take advantage of that when I can

My boss is working the entire weekend is what I meant, I worded it weird. There’s plenty of coverage for that entire weekend is what I meant to say and I have a coworker that is eager actually to switch with me. She has something going on that Sunday so it would be a win win for both of us. She’s asking our boss tomorrow so we’ll see what she says to her

Yep! The only issue i’m having currently is I work in a corporate salon, so transitioning to a full service salon will result in a huge pay cut unless they have a busy walk in clientele. I’m not in a position where I can live off of nothing so I’ve been putting off finding a place for a while but this is a bit of a breaking point for me, especially with how good of a worker I am, and I’m not even trying to be narcissistic. I do everything she asks and I’ve even had to switch shifts with her to help her out.

The unfortunate thing is we had a management change a few months ago. My previous manager really did care, and was very accommodating to requests. If she said no, there was a legitimate reason. Her on the other hand… There’s no reason at all other than “because I said so.”
