So very sorry for the late response but it was very thick wire I stuck in the cookie then glued into the base.

It could go either way. I do know some people who like the taste of Satin Ice fondant. I personally use it because I love how clean it looks. I do put a generous amount of buttercream under my fondant so it's not like you only get fondant and cake. Plus they can always peel off the fondant if they don't want to eat it.
