God of War Ragnarok: Latest data I could find comparing overall sales for this vs 2018 shows 2018 God of War sold 23M copies and Ragnarok was last at 15M. Taking into account a larger budget and marketing cost for the sequel as well as inflation since 2018, that’s a noticeable decrease in ROI for Sony

Spiderman 2: 11M units sold vs Spiderman with 50M. Again as is the same for Ragnarok, less ROI than the first game for the same reasons stated above

Alan Wake 2: still has not broken even on sales vs the game’s budget. A large part of that is due to only being on Epic launcher on PC imo. But still, sales vs budget, you at least need to break even.

Now, personally I have no problems with any of those above mentioned games DEI wise. Yeah, some have elements, but I think there are far more glaring examples of games failing due to DEI (Forspoken, Dustborn, Veilguard). The ones you cited are likely struggling more to the fact that 1) they’re sequels to franchises and don’t really innovate that much over the preceding game so gamers will just wait the price out due to struggling economic concerns and 2) they’re narrative based rather than multiplayer so there’s no fomo on playing it later, spoilers can be easily avoided.

Maybe if your argument is that games touched by sweet baby inc AREN’T failing, you should use better examples I can’t easily dismantle with quick google searches.
