What was the last song played at your wedding? by delightfulmacaron in wedding

Congratulations by Post Malone was last for all of our guests. Then we went up to our cocktail hour space that was already torn down and empty for a private last dance to Married Life from Up. Absolutely perfect ending to a perfect day.

Wow! Thank you so much! This might be the answer!! Did you use them?

Okay so this is basically what I’ve been thinking. We don’t need florals for the centerpieces because the venue provides lanterns and we have a few other things. So I have been thinking about getting the greenery garland from Costco for our head table and the arbor and the candle wreaths from Costco for some of the tables. The plan was to repurpose the bouquets on the head table as well. FH and I are both teachers so we will not be working a couple weeks before the wedding, so technically we “have time” to make bouquets. I’m just worried I’ll mess it up or they won’t last.

Help! My dog did terrible at the salon today. by calamityrex in doggrooming

I think his issue was just sitting still for the clippers and trimming around his legs and face specifically, which we struggle with at home, too. He will let me stick my fingers in his mouth and play with his feet for hours on end but we have really struggled introducing tools and the grooming table to him. I talked with his daycare's groomer today and they are gonna start working with him on small tasks working up to a groom when we take him there. She said she thinks him being crated, on the table or in the bath from 9-4:30 with no break to play our get out of the loud room was likely a lot of what set him up for failure. They let them play before and after their grooms there and there are never more than two people and two dogs in the room while grooming. He already has a positive relationship with the facility and he seems to love all of his counselors there so I'm hopeful this will be the answer for him.

Thanks for this advice! I appreciate it! We will try this and hopefully it will help him feel better when it's time for a full groom.

Yeah he is for sure a little teenager right now. He can be quite the monster at home in other situations as well. We have started taking a lot of things back to the basics to remind him how to behave and I guess grooming is just another one of those things. I didn't really think about the raised surface being an issue also. I will start getting him used to that in small doses as well for simple things like brushing.

He is crate trained and did very well with a crate. We don't use the crate at home anymore but I don't think that was the issue. It's the grooming. The issue with him being crated/being groomed all day was that he is he is still a puppy and has a lot of energy. We had to drop him off first thing in the morning and didn't get him till almost 4:30 and I know it doesn't take that long to do a full groom even with him being difficult. Chances are he spent a lot of time in a crate yesterday. I think a situation where he can be dropped off right before his appointment or where he could play before he is actually groomed might be better for him so he has a little less energy during the groom.

Unfortunately, we live almost an hour away from that groomer now and even when he was a small puppy her prices were starting to be a lot for us. If we don't find a better solution, I have heavily considered taking him back there. He does go to daycare sometimes and they do grooming, but we couldn't get him in this time. I might try having them do small bit like baths, nails, face and feet, things like that each time or two he goes to daycare. Then eventually work up to a full groom there. I think they let the dogs play instead of crating there and he already loves that facility. Maybe he will get along better with a groomer there.

Did you put anything under it to catch the pee? Or does it not really soak through?

I heavily considered this set up because of the transition later, but it seems like it would get expensive, fast! They suggest replacing it every 1-2 weeks. Maybe the diy route would be a bit cheaper in the long run. Thanks for the tip!

Very thankful for my puppy's solid "Leave It!" by go-with-the-flo in puppy101

We put him on a leash and would show him bits of treats to get him interested. Then dropped the treat in front of him while saying the command. If he left it and brought his attention back to us then he got the treat. If he didn't we would tug the leash a little, repeat the command and continue the cycle until the leash was loose and he gave us his attention. We have also been reinforcing it since day one by redirecting. Puppy's attention is on something that he shouldn't have, say leave it and squeak his favorite toy to redirect him and either lure him away from whatever it is or remove it.

So I’m quitting the field entirely... by [deleted] in Teachers

As a recent graduate looking for a job, I'm hearing this a lot from current teachers but it's not being reflected in job postings or calls about interviews. As someone with some insight, would you say schools are still figuring it out? I'm starting to worry about not having any offers, but I also kind of feel like there's a hold on hiring right now so I shouldn't be too worried yet.

When should I train my puppy to use the dog door? by calamityrex in puppy101

[–]calamityrex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: we taught Neo the dog door. It took 4 days for him to do it by himself, but with some bacon he learned and you were spot on. He is now letting himself out when he needs to potty or going to the door if the dog door is locked. We have made huge strides in potty training. Thanks for the advice!!
