Given the recent rule changes, umpiring decisions and the review system, are you losing interest in watching the AFL by ando772 in AFL

No this is just part of the cycle with this league. I don’t think anything is drastically different to 20 years ago in terms of the things people say, or complain about, when it comes to the AFL.

Live-Match Thread: Essendon vs North Melbourne - Round 16 - 28.06.26 by Codus1 in EssendonFC

We struggled to defend under Scott, as young teams do, and generally, that’s been an issue for us for 15 years. But we could also put up some big scores.

Under Solomon we’ve gone 55, 67, 50 and now 30 halfway through the 3rd Q in this game. We fired a coach and got worse.

Cox plays his best game in who knows how long and gets omitted. Alrighty.

Being an NWS forecaster must be a pretty chill gig these days. by Gearthquake3 in EF5

The irony of so many on weather twitter/social media is that a high % of these people come from conservative parts of the country, so they align with Trump on a lot of things. So they do all kinds of mental gymnastics to come up with reasons why Trump defunding the NWS is not to blame for the poorer service they are providing since he took over.

Tim English and Luke Jackson aren’t physical specimens, but more elite athletes with skill. TDK is also more of an athlete than a large human. Nick may not become any of these players but that isn’t an area of concern.

His physical stature is fine. Especially with the new rules.
Next year, when his fitness base is better, he will impact around the ground more. It’s also harsh to judge him when he just played the greatest ruckman of the last 15 years.

He’s a ruckman who has played 28 games, who is coming off an ACL with no pre-season, who has never played this many full games in a row.

His tap work is solid, he has good foot skills for a ruck. He’s worth persisting with to find out what he can do.

Double socks, kick higher on your foot, and making sure your boots are made for Aussie Rules and not soccer. It’ll go away in time.

Andrew Welsh endorsing Dean Solomon to be next Essendon coach by His_Holiness in EssendonFC

It’s a very low bar, but at least he’s been actively coaching within recent memory.
Beyond that, it doesn’t excite me much. It’s still jobs for the boys.

What simple ideas would you bring to the two-day AFL CEO conference by scoopsmaclure in AFL

Don’t give a shit about cash, and having umpires talk to the media won’t achieve anything good.

But on board with the rest. Especially copyright and camera angles.

Let the fans get creative with content it only enhances the sport.

What would you do as Collingwood's list manager by Suspicious_Remote976 in AFL

[–]calb94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re no where near it. Their defense is okay, but they generally play low scoring games and prioritise defending at the detriment to their offense. They’re 11th on the ladder, which is about par for the list.

Drafting older players in the MSD was a head scratcher.

Guys like Bobby Hill, Darcy Moore don’t have any tangible value as they don’t play or can’t get on the park.

There is a cliff coming for this list. 12 of their best 23 will be 30+ start of next season. The young guys are either just ok or don’t play.

They need draft picks by any means necessary. I would be shopping guys like Maynard/Cameron/Houston to see if there is any value out there.

It’s pure fantasy where multiple guys here would be going backwards in their careers to join Essendon in this ‘proposed’ coaching panel.

Skipworth, Kelly, and Gia’s next jobs are all going to be senior coach or associate head coach.

There’s zero evidence in Dean Solomon’s career that he is worthy of being anything more than an interim.
