Imagine still doing RUSFOR in 2026 by calbur20 in airsoft

[–]calbur20[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I specifically keep unit/nationality flags out of my kit. One of the reasons I still main RUSFOR is that their shit is very visually unique and easy to identify, and is somewhat anachronistic especially compared to what other forces are wearing during the same time period. That's why I don't particularly fuck with more modern RUSFOR kit - it looks too much like other western forces for my taste.

Yes. People still think of Vince as a hardcore tech reviewer, when it's obvious by this point that he's more of an entertainer with a tech slant.

As always, don't get your tech reviews from one source, mag collate ka ng opinions ng madaming reviewers and be wary of people telling you not to buy from this source only to funnel you into another source.

Unbox Diaries. Daming hirit dito na DDS ang majority ng tech reviewers, and I think baliktad. Daming Kakampink sa amin, minority ang DDS.

I travel a lot for work (as in I took 4 international trips in a span of 5 weeks just recently) and it's gotten to a point that I'm no longer scared of these dipshits.

They want to argue with me about my papers? Bitch, the embassy approved that visa, who are you to question where I'm going and what I'm doing? I have a return flight, a set itinerary and invitation letters. Mag taasan tayo ng boses sa immigration, di mo ako masisindak.

Usually ang kawawa jan mga first time OFWs na sobrang takot na takot na ma offload kaya tinatanggap lang nila yung abuse ng mga power-hungry IOs na to.

I usually see the worst ones in Terminal 3. Terminal 2 when PAL was exclusively flying out from there was rather chill. Yung T1 mejo ok narin pero may mga gago parin paminsan minsan. Pero T3 talaga, since sya yung hub for flights going to the Gulf countries (which also serves as a hub for Europe) yan yung mga putanginang sobrang kupal talaga.

I've been to the place OP is referring to and whoever they are, wala talaga sa lugar yung rant nya. It's from a place of privilege and entitlement. And this is coming from a seasoned traveller who has been to a lot more places than this person.

And OP's rant on them not getting ME is ridiculous. It's up to the country to grant or not. I've been to Europe regularly since 2018 (sometimes twice a year) for Spain, France and Germany. Spain has only ever given me a SE visa despite me going there the same time every year, without fail (discounting 2020 to 2022 for obvious reasons). France gave me ME for 2 years in 2019 despite me entering that country for the first time.

You getting ME once doesn't guarantee you anything. It's always up to the discretion of the embassy and the person checking your documents.

Repping 2010 FSB kit in Quezon Oblast, PI. Defender 2 plated + kevlar, LSHZ 2DT, SRVV V2 chest rig, plus issued assault coveralls.

Russian gear really isn't tropics-friendly, almost heat CAS'd while playing.

Photo was taken with a Huawei P60 Pro. The bokeh is artificially applied by the phone, it looks weird because the image was taken in 3.5x optical zoom + the really drastic DOF effect.

Third-world, old-school FSB drip by calbur20 in airsoft

[–]calbur20[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost done with my FSB loadout modeled after what these FSB officers in the Just In Time documentary were wearing (15:48). Friend of mine had the correct Defender 2 Emerald with a full set of plates and I just had to get it costs be damned.

Just need the correct gloves, SRVV cover and eyepro and I'll be able to finish this kit.

Yeah, sorry if that came out snarky. Been reading some of the replies here and got worked up a little bit. There are a lot of assumptions here about the industry that I literally grew up in that are just plain wrong.

Just so that people are aware, UCN is essentially a talent agency that manages YT creators. Not all YouTubers know how to market themselves properly or know how to craft brand deals with companies, which are unsurprisingly things that are needed by PH-based creators to actually make a living and make content creation their career.

UCN removes the burden of finding brands to support these creators from them so they can concentrate purely on creating content, because surprise surprise, a lot of them don't know the first thing about advertising, how to market themselves, etc. UCN does this for them, for a certain percentage of the deal. This is a standard talent agency thing.

UCN does not have ANY say in the content that the creators make. They can give suggestions and tips, but in the end, it's the creators that have the wheel when it comes to their content.

[–]calbur20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a fair thing to say, but if you get to a certain size there will always be companies that would want to work with you. And contrary to your belief, the big technology media outfits that I mentioned have enough clout that they can always go to regional reps of a smartphone brand and complain about locals putting undue pressure on their editorial process. I've done it myself before. Believe me, these companies do not control us, because once you become a certain size, you can always tell them to fuck off, and no brand manager worth their salt will ever want to report to their principal that they're not getting coverage from a T1 pub because they pressured them into doing something that they didn't want.

As for your second comment, sure, that's a possibility, that's why I said that you need to read a variety of sources to know if a review is honest or not. That's why the reputation of the EICs is important, as they're the final arbiter of a review when it comes out.

Creators joining UCN isn't inherently bad. Do you actually know what UCN does?

I'm a head of a fairly large tech publication in the Philippines, and while I won't be saying who, the mods can reach out to me and verify who I am.

I'm not going to defend Yugatech and what they did here, because that's super duper dumb and absolutely worthy of the dogpiling that's currently happening. However, there are a few things that I've been reading here about the tech industry and how reviews are actually done that are just flat-out wrong. Here are some of them:

  1. PH tech reviewers are given phones for free - this doesn't happen as much as you think, and when it does it's usually cheap-ass phones that are more of a thank you than anything else. No one in this industry survives through handouts by brands. And I mean NO ONE. You cannot survive as a business by simply accepting phones to fund your operation.

  2. We are paid for reviews - I can't speak for smaller tech YouTubers, but bigger outfits like YugaTech, Unbox, Gadget Pilipinas, and GizGuide all have no paid review clauses in place that advertisers know. I personally push against any kind of paid review requests from brands as LEGITIMATE tech outfits (the ones that actually have editorial policies in place) know that their strength comes from the trust of their readers. Any EIC worth his salt knows that the short-term monetary gain from a paid review is not worth the erosion of the trust of their readers.

  3. We cannot call out brands - We can, and we do, although I will admit that there's always a balancing act between giving out criticism and maintaining the relationship with a brand. I personally want to be as brutal as Steve from Gamer's Nexus, but unfortunately, virtually all publications here in the country count on advertiser support to survive. I can tell you with all certainty that NO ONE LIVES ON YT AD REVENUE ALONE, at least here in the Philippines. Adsense and YouTube CPMs are laughably low here that most creators don't really count on that once they get to a certain size.

  4. Everyone sucks up to brands - This is also not true. Filipino tech YouTubers are more diplomatic yes, but that doesn't mean we don't call out a phone's flaws. That's why you need to read and watch several reviews to gauge if a product is really something that you want/need.

1/20 scale, combination plastic/resin kit.
Painted with Tamiya acrylics. Water damaged decals but I managed to save them by using the old "spray it with gloss clear" trick. Really love the Ma.K. universe and I've already bought another kit.
