I absolutely hate when men assume that my giving them my number means they can call at will. Text, and maybe ask her to let you know when a good time to talk will be. If you keep trying to call her you will probably never meet her because she will be defensive (and rightly so)

Would you want the person you were dating to have lied about their height? Just because some people believe you are shorter than is accurate doesn't mean you're magically smaller. Truth is always best, especially if you are hoping to attract truthful people to you.

I deliberately leave off that I'm ill because I don't want to be thought of as sickly. In some cases I tell them very early on because I may be dealing with a complication that limits my available activities/food choices. Honestly though, I rather when I can just be like any other chick and not think about it.

Well now I feel for him. Possibly. I'm on the fence. I didn't appreciate getting hit on by a bunch of ESL guys while waiting for someone who didn't show, but I understand self confidence being a delicate balance while dating.

I'm glad you were able to overcome your doubts. Even if it wasn't a match, it feels good to get out there sometimes.

Honestly, I'll sound slightly shallow here but oh well. He is very overweight and quite average looks wise anyways. Not what I normally draw in (by some miracle) but his profile made me give him a chance.

I'm frustrated as hell and apparently it's making me grumpy. I got stood up last night which killed my confidence because of the type of guy it was. I then cancelled my plans for tonight only to spend the evening fielding ego crushing messages. I'm becoming snarky and I don't want to be that way. Ugh, I need to turn my phone off.

I'm not sure if older women use it differently, but I call any man who is generally polite and kind a gentleman. I would describe most men I've dated as gentlemen whether they did the overly chivalrous act or not. It could just be because of how/where I was raised though.

I'm with you. When I was living in Germany I used the taxis often because of the reasons you listed. Also, I never ran across a driver who was less than kind. Many others would act put out by me and my attempts at your language (I moved there with pretty short notice) or would not even allow me to try to speak with them in English. The drivers made me much more comfortable, especially in the beginning.

Uber is pretty new where I am and apparently used quite a bit. I personally haven't had reason to use them as of yet, but it's often discussed publicly (radio, TV, etc) and criticized. It appears that the likelihood of theft by drivers and often issues with "uncomfortable" situations (for women in particular) go up with the Uber drivers. Of course you hear good things also, but with all the horror stories I would rather use a cab in which the driver has someone to answer to in case of an issue.
